View Full Version : I'm joining ADSL24
I've just requested my MAC from Pipex and once I get it i'm joining you lot.
I've spent alot of today reading the forums and reviews about yourselves and i'm pretty impressed. I'll be going on the 30GB/300GB package.
I only have 1 question:
Is UPLOAD bandwich included in the stated allowance?
Regards,
NICK
Welcome to ADSL24 Nick, yes I think it is included in the total bandwidth
yorkie.
Same as , I ordered the other day after requesting a mac from pipex. I was one of their "high utilisation" members (despite being on a 2mb unlimited account for the last four years) and my service has now been terminated.
All I can say is good riddance pipex!
Adsl24 looks so much better , even from the phone call I got after joining after talking to the crap customer service pipex has.
You've made the right choice leaving pipex - cant sit worrying from month to month to find out what bullshit decision they have made this month on their FUP or how you are going to be throttled.

Welcome to ADSL24 NICK and stevej.
Traffic in both directions counts towards the monthly allowance.

Hello Nick.
I believe the 30GB is up and down.
Zen are slightly different they count down not up but it's only 20GB total day and night and dearer monthly fees.
Welcome, Nick - you've made a good choice! :)

I've just recieved my MAC and placed a Migration order with you. Looking forward to using your service.
Just joined today after migrating from Tiscali, was a pleasure to talk to James who handled the transaction really well. Just awaiting the switchover from Tiscali to ADSL24 now.
I have a real good feeling about this ISP.

Apparently I'm one of the incoming hordes. I've requested my MAC code from my current provider after being put on the heavy useage group/pipe (without an email, call, nudge, or even admission for the first week). Looking forward to joining the group as I've heard nothing but good things about ADSL24.
Cheers!

Hello Pego.
Hello Saintsinner.
I think you'll be happy here.
Just abit of mind ease needed....
When I log into my ADSL24 account and click on the BT status section. Under Commit date it says 13/04/2007 and under Status it says Submitted.
When it says Submitted, does that mean that BT have or havn't accepted the MAC code yet. It's just that i've heard horror stories on a number of forums from people saying that PIPEX have given them old/used or even fake MAC's in order for them to keep them from going.
I just have a sinking feeling in my gut that somthing like this will happen to me.
Also is the date i've got now (13/04/2007) set in stone or just a estimated one.
AFAIK the "submitted" means the MAC has been forwarded to BT. The date given is an estimated date for activation and you'll be sent an email when BT confirm the date with Enta. If there had been a problem with the MAC it would probably have bounced by now.

Hi Nick and welcome
Its called "Anxiety" :D
I think you will find that the MAC has been submitted and is awaiting confirmation by BT. Generally, the date given will become the migration date once confirmed. Maybe James will back this up when he reads this.
Now just relax, I'm sure everything will go fine ;)
ps. Stop biting your nails :p

And don't worry if you log on in the morning of "The Day" and find you are still on the old setting. They didn't do mine until late afternoon.
And also, sometimes both ISPs accounts will work. Eg, you may still be able to connect to Pipex at 8pm on the day of migration, but that doesn't mean you have not been migrated. Unless you change the username/pass in your router, the Pipex connection may still work for a few days...
James
According to my account i'm due to get activated this Friday, but also according to my account BT hasn't confirmed my MAC yet. Is this normal?
Your account looks fine :)
Sometimes BT dont update the system so even though it shows as just submitted, it usually by this stage will have been verified.
James
Thanks for that.
It's just that i'm reading more and more pipex migrating horror stories by the day - I should stop really lol.
I've heard my pipex login details will still work on the day i'm activated, will I only SYNC at ADSL MAX speeds when I enter my adsl24 login details or will my pipex login allow me to surf at up to 8mb.
In other words i'm currently synced at 2272 kbp, when that changes I take it that means i've been migrated.
When your router shoes above 2272, you will need to change the user/pass to the one we send you :)
As soon as that's done - migration is complete.
James
Oh thats a nice.... just got connected
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/117647714095330418517.html
Sync'ed at 7584 kbps
I'm happy as larry now. ;)
My SNR has dropped from 28db to just 6db.... is this normal.
Your router will synch at the best speed consistent with a margin of 6 (default). On a line that is good enough to synch at full speed (8128) there may be margin to spare but in your case a margin of 6 is perfectly normal.
