View Full Version : Scheduling Downloads on a Mac
Hi! I run Mac OS X 10.3.9 and was wondering whether there is an easy way of scheduling downloads for off peak times? Other than starting them when I go to bed and stopping them when I get up I don't know of a better solution.
I assume that there are utilities available that will open and close applications at times that you set. For example, could I set BitTorrent to open at 11pm and close at 8am.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try this:
In iCal just go to set an alarm (under New Event), go to "Open File" and choose the file or script, then set when you wish it to open.
Maybe a search on Google would throw up a script to shut down a programme from within iCal. Or have a look at: http://automatorworld.com/ for possible scripts.
Thank you very much alansallad. For any one else wondering about this see this link as it is very helpful!

You need to create an applescript which can then be run by iCal and this tells you how. Just replace Azureus with the Program you want to open/close.
