Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
As I do not get security warnings I assume my Norton 360 is not stopping it.
This may be a proxy setting, perhaps. Who was your last provider? Again, I would suggest starting a new topic, with a suitable subject line.
Derek
My previous ISP was Tesco.net
This is my only forum that links are not working.
Only one? Then it's not a proxy issue! What happens if you type the link into the address bar?
does this work?

Others - please feel free to jump in - it's been years since I had to (suffer) use IE or even windows in any depth!

Yes that does, just by a click.
Thanks, so is it just the links that I posted which don't work?
Try comparing this;
http://noc.enta.net/?p=320#comments
with
http://noc.enta.net/?p=320#comments
That was intended to compare manual url insertion with using the url button to insert the tags - doesn't seem to make any difference to the source.
Do you have some sort of popup blocking in IE?
I use OS X so no help here sorry :/
Nothing in the software is set to this. I suggest using firefox myself.......

Neither worked.
I no doubt will have a blocker as I have Nortons 360 which is a pretty comprehesive system, and I'm not suffering pop-ups.
But surely that not it, if it were other Forums would not work.

I wonder if that the problem the use of Firefox?
Hi, David,
The trouble I have is you seem to have some links in this forum working, and not others, and I can't see a pattern! I believe that if it were a general problem with IE, then others would have reported it, too. There are many possible causes, and Windows and IE are complex beasts, and have quirks and flaws which in my past lead me to decide that I did not want to spend the time and effort continually fighting them. As an example, one possible cause of link problems in IE can be spyware. I'm not saying that is your problem, but that it is possible, and security products don't always protect as well as their marketing departments would like. If you are running a recent version of Windows then its 'firewall' can apparently be a cause in certain configurations, too.
Most people don't recommend Firefox out of some religious product zeal etc, but because it makes for a much easier life in the long run!
Could I suggest that you take a look around the forums again, and see if you can detect a pattern - there is a 'links' section too, which should contain a lot! Perhaps after looking around and if you have some suspicions, make some posts here saying 'test - please ignore' and post some links yourself?
Best wishes
Derek

Hi Joedavid,
Have you sorted out your MTU settings?
If in doubt have a look here (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/MTU.htm)
Maybe that isn't your problem but, maybe it is! :)
David, do these links work?
