Hi

I've just signed up today (filled in the migration page) - migrating from plusnet - initially tried to migrate to Tiscali but very poorly done by them and never got migrated so cancelled that.

Any idea how long the migration will take as my MAC code will expire on April 11th mainly because of all the timewasting that tiscali done.

If only I checked out this ISP first. Have to say everything I've read about Adsl24 is top class.:D

thanks

Cecil.

Welcome to ADSL24 cecil migration is normally 5 to 10 days, Tiscali I think you have had a lucky escape,

yorkie,

yes I know - tiscali gave me dates when things should be switched over - never happened - phoned them and Indian call centre gave me some excuse and told me that it should be done by this date and same thing happened again. In the end cancelled them order as they could not supply it so where in effect in breach of their contract.

The Tiscali support is very poor I'm just glad I found out at the start otherwise I would have had to wait 12 months to get out of the contract.

hopefully ADSL24 will be great!

Thanks

Cecil.

Hello Cecil ,don't migrate to Tiscali bad move.

Read all the different ISP forums about them.

Everyone is leaving them to come to places like here.

A 12 month contract is terrible if you go with someone like Tiscali.

I am sure you will not regret joining ADSL24,

Cecil, just to let you know that your line is on whats known as LLU (meaning you are on Tiscali's equipment at the exchange and not normal BT kit which most ISP's use). You should be aware that a £45+vat migration fee (what BT charge us) will be applicable if we transfer you from LLU. If this is ok, let us know asap so we can get the proces rolling.

Thank you

James

thanks - Its a bit annoying that they have done that as plusnet never officially told me it costs more when I need to move.

Anyway If I say yes to this will I be able to be migrated before the 11th april when my MAC expires or does it take longer?

thanks

Cecil.

thanks yes I agree I decided initially on just cost - bad move and luckily I found out how bad their service / support is before migrating.

Yes I'll pay the additional £45+Vat charge. Please can you get the ball rolling and let me know when my transfer to ADSL24 should occur?

thanks

Thanks everyone for the nice messages. I have to say I was probably Plusnets longest customer been with them for around 5 Years. Overall they're not bad but now I can't wait till I'm on adsl24.

James any idea when this will occur (I guess I will get all this via email along with confirmation of the username / password to use).

thanks

Cecil.

Welcome! As the others have said, you'll not regret your move to ADSL24 :)

We are putting your order through now, so it doesn't matter when the activation will occur as the MAC is used on signup, not activation. :)

I was a Plusnet customer but moving here was a good move, I should have done it a lot sooner.

If an ISP move a customer to LLU they should ask them if they want to move and tell them about the cost if they want to move later to another provider who is IP Stream.

cecil

Yes I totally agree - I remember being told (not asked) about being moved onto it but nothing about costing more when wanting to leave them.

Anyone know what contention adsl24's Max Home 30 has if any?

Anyone know what contention adsl24's Max Home 30 has if any?

IIRC, it's 50:1 for home products and 20:1 for office products (I'm on Office Max 45 so can't be certain about the home contention, sorry). Either way, bear in mind that 50:1 on excellent pipes is better than 30:1 on rubbish pipes ;)

I'm sure James, Robbie or someone else will correct my figures if I'm wrong, but suffice to say that either way you'll not have much by way of trouble when you go live :D

Those contention ratios aren't used any more.

At exchange level Office products are given priority over Home but it's not a difference you should notice.

Welcome to the family. :)

thanks - can someone tell me how long it takes after sign up before you receive the email with your adsl24 email address, username / pwd and connection info or does this happen nearer activation?

thanks

Cecil.

I have also just received my MAC from plusnet, then received a call from them, but sent them off with a 'flee in their ear'

Have now signed up with adsl24 and awaiting the email confirming actual connection

Look forward to this happening in next 7 days

These usually go out in the evening so it probably won't be far away

James

Yes - as soon as we receive a confirmed date from BT we send out the activation e-mail.

thanks but I still haven't received it even though if I sign into my account and look at the activation date it is set for 16/04/2007.

any ideas or is that date not confirmed?

James

If I sign into my account online it shows the 16/4/2007 as the activation date, but so far I have no email regarding confirmation of my connection date and email address, username / pwd, etc.

When will these go out?

thanks

Cecil.

Don't worry! The date in their is merely the estimate and not confirmed yet. Until BT confirm the date, we can't send out the activation e-mail.

Hi Cecil

It is a shame that you did not get plusnet to transfer you back onto BT Upstream for free, then migrate out.

I understand though, that by paying the £45 you escape that much quicker!!

I am also migrating from plusnet to adsl24 - scheduled for the 16th

Good luck
Simon

thanks but I dont think they would migrate me out for free - doubt that would happen
