Over last few days have found router disconnecting regularly and without warning.
Have tried switch off unplug etc no effect
Also changed filter which seemd to work for a while but fault now back.
Affects both machines using lan and as far as I can see nothing has changed since fault started.
Op system XP pro
have used Chrome since it started but it worked fine until recently.
Router is fairly new and was bought on adsl recommendation - is there any history of problems with this?
If I need to change router was is suggested?
Any tests / checks I should do?
Also have raised a ticket
Thanks etc
By disconnect do you mean line drops and resyncs?
What are your line stats?
Is your modem plugged into the master socket?
Is there any pattern to the disconnects? (eg time of day)
Do you have any noise on your voice phone line?
Have you disconnected the bell wires? (search other threads for more info)
More info might help others assist.

sorry for delay been out
yes line drops and resyncs by itself sometimes fairly quickly.
No noise on phone lines
Also tried master socket and it still happens.
Have also trawled through quite a few threads without success.
What line stats would be helpful and how can I get them?
No pattern at all to disconnects although it does not seem to happen when using internet explorer despite accessing several pop3 accounts
Will try bell wire rewire
Any thing else please
What router are you using? You need to access the admin pages and post the line stats.

router is speedtouch 585v6
sorry to be thick but how do I access the admin pages for line data
Dunno, I use a netgear, but I'm sure if you haven't already got the manual then you could access one with a web search. You're looking for your DSL connection statistics e.g. speed up/down, attenuation, and SNR margin.

This has happened to a lot of people. Check this thread:

I raised a ticket and eventually a voice line fault was found and fixed. It's been a lot better since.
