Hi Everyone.

I am in the decision making process of changing my ISP, as I am currently with the loathsome dirt bags Tiscali at present. Previously I was only a light user so I didnt have any issues with them, however I have recently purchased a PS3 and last week connected online via wi-fi with a Micronet asdl2+ router that i personally purchased and set up.

Much to my disgust I discovered that I could not connect to the Playstation Network (PSN) during peak hours (weekday evenings), due to their traffic shaping activities. The PSN forums confirmed I am not alone with this problem. Their call centre in India were clearly just reading off a script and spoke only of 'escalation' and what I believe are fictitious 'engineers', no further explanations or timescales were given.

Anyway, so here I am looking for a new ISP. I have been very impressed with the glowing reviews on the internet of ADSL24 and really like the feel of your website and the packages offered, however I need some help with my decision.

As a Sky Digital customer I have been considering their 40gb capped package - basically because this will only cost £5 a month to me. However there are a lot of negative reviews in other forums about their broadband service that give me cause for concern.

It would cost me £180 a year more to go with ADSL24 over Sky, however I do feel that I would be guaranteed a much better service/ speed/ customer help. The old mantra of you get what you pay for.

SO SHOULD I GO WITH ADSL24? OR SAVE SOME MONEY WITH SKY? all comments will be much appreciated... Many thanks! Jamie :)

Of course, I would say go with ADSL24 - but that's a bit biased :)

What I can do though is outline the possible benefits:

a) 1 month contract so even if you wish to leave after a month (hopefully not) you haven't lost anything!
b) UK customer support, via e-mail, ticket, MSN, phone, call-back etc
c) We are a small ISP and thus can offer a more personal service. If you have a question/problem, we'll answer it to suit your needs not just a bog standard reply you'd get from most ISP's. We care about what we offer, and thus your opinion counts for everything. If we provide good service and support, you are happy, and we are happy :)
d) We support all ADSL modems/routers, and don't force you to use a "Sky box" etc.
e) You don't get anything like this: http://adsl24.co.uk/myaccount_overview.php with Sky or most ISP's come to think of it.

I better stop now... but you get the idea.

Yes I would have to agree with James - ADSL24 has excellent support I cannot say about the actual adsl service yet as my line will be activated on the 16th April but so far any questions or issues I have raised have been answered or solved very quickly.

Currently I am with Plusnet and tried to migrate to Tiscali, but Tiscali were so poor and useless at actually changing me over to their network I cancelled it as they kept giving me dates when it should occur and then nothing happened. In the end I signed up with adsl24.

All I can say is if you have been having issues with Tiscali and phoning them they are not very helpful, so adsl24 would be a very good choice to move to and so far I have been looking at the hosting control panel and if you use that and setup a website there are a lot of useful features / utilities that you can use for your site (obviously this might vary dependent on the service you choose).

The best thing with ADSL24 has to be the customer service and the 1 month contract length. E.g. if you were unhappy (which I doubt you would be) you could move after a month.

I personally think you will not regret it if you move to adsl24.:)

Also if you look at http://www.dslzoneuk.net/ the isp ratings section you can see where adsl24 is rated in comparison to others, I think SKY have customer service staff overseas somewhere, so I would recommend adsl24 for good customer service and very quick helpful replies.

Good luck

Cecil.

I think a smaller ISP can give better service.

Sky and a few others may be cheaper but I think the Enta providers give a good deal.

I am sure that you would not regret joining ADSL24 it is an excellent ISP with excellent customer support, and as already stated it is only a 1 month contract.

I say adsl24 is worth every penny, apparently sky is ok for emails and a little light surfing, But if you want to play console games or pc games, and you dont want lag. Then you need a nice low Ping, And I have a seriously low ping in all on line games since being with adsl24. With tiscali it became terrible after there traffic shaping began in early 2006.

What can I say? Moving to ADSL24 was the best thing I ever did! Support is A1, and the community is small but welcoming :)

Now, if only Enta did ADSL2+.... :D

Well i have experience with sky and it's not good....

I was supposed to migrate from nildram to sky on the 16th of feb and so far i'm still not connected and sky just give me different excuses every time i phone!!

I gave up in the end and got a second phone line and came to Adsl24 and it's been awesome from day one.

Sky can do what they like with my other line now and if they ever get me connected the kids can have it :p

My advice is stay well clear of sky!!

Am gonna have to call from work tomorrow. Cant wait to switch over.

It can take about 7-10 days right?

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from Sky BB they are absolutly useless ! , I fell for there package and desided to migrate from tiscali to Sky, I was without BB fro about 3 months and everytime I called sky, they said my BB was with another company, so contacted Tiscali and they said Sky had there tags on my line, like i said this went on for 3 months and cost me a fortune in phone calls.

Sky are absolutly incompatent in every way , you phone up and push buttons on the phone ,then wait about 20 min to find out the need to put you to another department and so on the misery continues......

Just a waring stay well away.

You want to go with ADSL24 the are a very good ISP , the help and support you get is good and they no what the are doing .

Thank ADSL24 for a great service.

Alex.:)
