I have a question concerning monthly contract and activation fees if customers leave within, lets say, 12 months
I am moving over to adsl24 as soon as BT activate the line and I do not anticipate moving within this period, especially if my broadband experience is as good as I hear it will be.
After reading some posts on the forums at Plusnet, (whom I am presently with) about their proposed changes to their package; 'You stay we pay', which IMO was a joke, I thought I would ask about activation costs if people do leave within the 12 month period
Clarification or information would be great. Thanks

I'm on a monthly contract so can leave anytime as long as I give a month's notice. Doubt that will happen as this is a very good ISP.
I left Plusnet recently, I wasn't prepared to wait 'til they cancel their deferred activation fees, which is supposed to happen soon.
I wish now that I'd paid the activation fee up front 'cos that was their way of holding you as a customer as it's five years before it's completely cancelled with them although it does reduce every year.
Only thing is I believe BT are soon starting to charge a fee to cancel your ADSL.
At present they only charge to activate a line for ADSL.

Hi Pineapplejack
Is it true then, that ADSL24 do not charge for the activation fee if customers leave ie the charge made by BT for tranferring people to another isp?
I am curious, as I am wondering what plusnet are saying on their forums about this matter
Thanks

The migration from one ISP to another is free if you are on IP Stream. It's different if you are LLU but I've never been on that. So normally if you joined ADSL24 and left after a few months you wouldn't have anything to pay them. They don't say to you oh we're charging a fee if you leave us. But once BT start this new fee to cancel an ADSL line then I assume the ISP would have to collect it.
If you have never had BB and you join ADSL24 they would charge an activation fee up front,it's not deferred.
With Plusnet you could join their BB service and Plusnet would pay the fee that BT charge to activate the line but you were still due it to them for up to five years and then Plusnet would cancel it.
You could also migrate to them from another ISP for nothing.
I an confirm that we nor Entanet will be charging for ceasing lines, we are absorbing the costs.
And just to clarify, there are no charges whatsoever if you decide to cease or migrate away after 1 month :)

Hi James
I am grateful for your reply and for this generous attitude
It just shows how confident you are in your service and it especially helps to make customers feel feel the same
Other ISPs' are 'locking' people into long term contracts, so it is great to feel that you are running a service that we; as the customer, can feel pleased to stay with.
Roll on the 12th
Thanks again
Simon
Thanks for the comments :)

James and his team know they provide a good service so don't have to worry about people leaving.
My previous ISP Plusnet had to put obstacles in your way to try and hold you.
