Hi All

Not posted for ages - hope all are well.

for about a week or more now I've been having problems with speed - my PC generally has slowed down so I think I may have some problems with the PC itself.

However I am having problems with download speeds too - I have just earlier downloaded a file that was about 150mb , in past I would expect well below 15 mins - today 2 hours !!!! I am also finding the internet generally slow - and very noticeable with any pages that have graphics.

set up is: Sony Vaio, 512mb ram, windows XP home.

I am using firefox 3.0.3

I have had a quick mooch round here and see nothing about any ongoing speed issues.

Anyone any ideas/suggestions please ?

Can one still get BT to check the line is operating at best speed ? - what do I need to ask them if yes.

Additionally is there any section within this forum where I can seek help on my PC's general slowness ?

many thanks for any help

regrads

Speeds dropping all afternoon.
Is Entanet about to pack up?

I am getting very slow speeds. Usually getting around 2.5mb now getting 1.1 dropping to around 150k. Connected to central 4 which looks rubbish.

Hi TC

thanks all - don't think this is an ADSL thing though (or entanet) as I have had these problems for some 7-9 days or so.

Anyone any ideas how I can trouble shoot and get to the bottom of this - it's driving me up the wall - any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

TC - nice to see someone is still around form when I last posted on here - trust life is treating you well ?

I've been having terrible problems with BT which James has been sorting out and even allowing for that my speed has not been that bad. Just run

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6232 kbps

This is on a current SNR of 11.3db. I would doubt that the low speeds are an Entanet problem as all the pipes are pretty free at the moment. I would raise a ticket as it could be an exchange issue otherwise this board would be inundated with people screaming......
