View Full Version : Lower Sync speed with ADSL+2

Hi All,

I have been upgraded to ADSL+2 and there has been a noticable difference in my upward sync speed (double) . However the downward sync speed has dropped since changing by .5Mb.
Tech support tell me this is because of the training period and it will change in the course of a few days.
Has anyone else had similar issues as this drop, does not make any sense to me.

I'd love to check my speed differences, however, I can't even get a connection with my new ADSL2+. Is there compatability issues with the Netgear DG834G v3, I have set the ADSL settings to ADSL2+, so I don't see how it can be a problem with the router or ADSL2+ wouldn't be there in the first place I would presume.
Could it be that the connection is not finished being upgraded yet, BT Status on My Account page shows;

I am pretty frustrated with ADSL2+ already. Never had any problems before with ADSL24 but since asking to change over I have had no connection at all.
I changed no settings in my router prior to losing connection other than switching off and back on to try and regain connection.

Did a full reset last night, tried all the IP / DNS settings as sent originally and ensured Netgear router was set for ADSL2+.

This must be an ADSL24 caused [BT grrrrr!] problem in my mind.
I have posted what my router status is and results from changes I have made to try and get connection back, I'm fairly naive in networking as you can probably guess!:$

My connection completely died I had to be rolled back to the 20CN Network - way too much hassle!

Wishy, your statistics suggests that the network is not accepting the username and password you are entering into the router.

Are you sure you are using the correct password and the username xxxxxx@adsllogin.co.uk?

Have you tried changing both the username and password to bt_test@startup_domain to see if you can get to BT's test page?

Thanks Nailz, the username and password are exactly the same. I took the opportunity, when all was well, to print out all router status pages, as I know only too well how easy it is to forget usernames, passwords, settings etc. etc. in this day and age.

Haven't tried the BT thing but will as soon as I get home. But what does that prove...that since going to ADSL2+ my username and password have changed???:s

Wishy,

It proves that its an authentication issue between BT and ADSL24.

It's probably a good idea to do factory reset on your router and apply your username and passwords again. I had to do this for a similar problem when I went from ADSL to ADSLMax. Sounds crazy I know but it defo worked for me.

If you can get onto the speedtest domain (after you've entered that username and password I gave you, any website you visit should bring up the same page)...... and after teh factory reset you still cant get on...... phone Enta and get them to reset your password and try it.

I know it may not make sense or be logical but these are the steps I would follow given the CHAP errors your router is reporting.

You should be sorted now. Had your RADIUS profile rebuilt so you should be fine in about 5 minutes.

Just got home and tried loads more changes to router no luck...then out of desperation restored my router settings from backup and suddently weyhey!!!

Then checked out ticket system on ADSL24 and noticed "Give it a try now..." and also came here to find the same advice.

Sorry JamesL but what exactly is RADIUS profile and is it likely to go wrong again...could obviously save loads of time and effort by altering loads of router settings or almost going out and buying a new one!!!:o

Thanks ADSL24 new you'd come good! Great stuff:D
