You could try this as well http://www.everybody-dies.com/ quite a cool little game, against real people it is good, especially when you all start on the same side.

Seeing who will crack first and launch all thier nukes...

I'm still a Valve addict, Team fortress, Couterstrike, Counterstrike source etc runs ace, as do other source mods on linux.

But.. Halflife 2 isn't anywhere near as fast/smooth/fps as it should be, under windows it's fine, but in Linux it aint, anyone gotten around this? (then again, I might have been crunching for seti at the time!)

I don't play a lot of games, but wine works so darn well it's amazing, if this was included in distros, 'out of the box', Linux really would be the worlds most popular OS.

You can't beat planet penguin racer (was tuxracer)

CS:S etc, under wine works a treat, never tried HL2, as I have a vastly underpowered main PC that it just about runs on using windoze. I installed cedega the other day and tried Guildwars under it, most disappointing, but as I said, its underpowered and it has an ATI card in it. I am quite happy to have dual boot for such games. Talking of WINE, its nice to note that Windows Genuine Disadvantage ca be got round using it, despite M$ actually checking the registry to make sure it is not running.

Have a hack about the repositories for whatever distro you use under the games section, there can be some real gems in open source games. Ppracer as i said, try alien arena (its on Debian Sid but simple to install). Doom3 and Quake 4 ran better on Linux. I have also found I have been using dosemu quite a bit for those old games that windows refuses to run anymore.

Yeah, running on a little AMDx2 6000 here so don't think it was a underpowered issue with hl2, but as I think I said, I might have been crunching data at the time too, so...

Taken me until yesterday to get servers back online after changing IP, come back NAT, all is forgiven lol.. it should be easier with no nat!

Someone on another forum I subscribe to has made one that is quite frankly excellent.

very frantic opengl blast fest

Only issue I had was with sound on kubuntu, I had to

ln -s /dev/dsp1 /dev/dsp0

But worked fine under debian.
