On NG's I normallly get around 790-800k/sec when the cental im on shows 7.2 and green, like first thing >7am on a monday morning.

However now, i can only get 400-500k/sec? Is this due to the Enta playing around with the pipe loading at the moment? I Just cannot seem to get over 500k/sec now at all?

Or is this something else playing up my line.. My ip profile has been locked at Max 8128 7150 for months and months now, And i only noticed the drop towards the tail end of last week...

Cheers

I find if you change pipes it goes back to 800k for like half hr then drops back to 600k

Aye.. just be nice to know a) im not the only one, i.e its not my exchange, and b) a reason behind this.

only 400-500k?!??! i wish :D

yeah - i've noticed a gradual slow down also.

Easily get 6.2 MB on NG now getting 4MB

I'm sure this will be sorted soon enough - hang in there! :)

Same here, used to 700k's + on NG's

'only' getting 500k's since Sunday even on a 7.2 green central?

Strange eh?

Aye I noticed too, early this morning I did a speed test , central 6 on green and I was getting around 400k/bs..... tonight I did another and it was back up to my usuall 7000k/bs so something isn't right I guess

I have no doubt it will be sorted, just wondering what the issue is really, and maybe a eta.. :)

Not looking to move away / find anybody else, it's just when the status quo is usually very good :D changes however small are noticed.

I would like to know what has happened to my other 200-300k's

Anybody there ???

I would like to know this to m8 but i have lost 400 - 500ks lets hope someone from ASDL24 can tell us what is going on sooner rather than later
Just had a look at central pipes and they are all at 7.2 so this cant be the problem I know its not my side so what is going on????

I think if this carries on I'll be getting my MAC, 8128/832 sync and pipes at 7.2 but missing 100~300KBps on average each night - seems like throttling.

Broadband problems? If you are having problems please let us know

well we all seem to be telling them but no responce ????:o

Been saying that for months ... yet does anyone care,or do they tell us !!, like s***t do they.

Well ADSL24 ARE WE HAVING OUR CONNECTION THROTTLED ????

A reply would be nice.

My speed just dropped to below 100KB/s a few minutes ago and it seems the only way to get back upto the 600+ range is to disconnect/reconnect the session. What on earth is going on?

iaTa
03/12/2008, 22:47
Yeah just happened to me too. Central is showing max 7.2 but my connection is running at 45 KB/s! The centrals are normally taking a beating at this time of night just after 10pm switch over. Something fishy is going on here.

My speed has also been appallingly slow recently. For the past two weeks at least I've been getting sub-100k speeds. Terrible service this month, think we may deserve some compensation.

Ive found every so often the speeds are going to 100kb/sec~ for short periods of time then rising back up to full (full being determined by the centrals load)

iaTa
07/12/2008, 21:30
Yep exactly the same has just happened to me again Sweeney.

Anyone actually going to make an official statement about this?

Sweeney

Im assuming it's the new ALT system being a bit heavy handed.

When a central reaches 96% capacity and remains at that for a consecutive five minutes, the ALT will begin to reduce the maximum throughput of lines by 500 kbps to ensure there is no packet loss, high loading times or effect on the above mentioned activities (browsing, e-mail etc). If after reducing the speed the capacity remains at 96% or above, it will continue to reduce the maximum throughput every minute by a further 500 kbps until the capacity of the pipe lowers to 91% or less. The lowest the ALT will reduce the throughput to is 2 Mbps (2000 kbps), therefore lines that are not able to receive above 2 Mbps (2000 kbps) because of distance from the exchange or line quality should never notice any decrease in speed due to the ALT.

Once the capacity on a central lowers back to 91% or below, the ALT will start to increase the maximum speed back up by 200 kbps every minute, until it reaches the maximum throughput level again. The ALT will continue to raise and lower the maximum throughput speed during the busy periods until the capacity decreases and all is back to normal. It only increases by 200 Kbps at a time to prevent the central from rising back up to 96% capacity straight away and thus causing it to lower by a further 500 Kbps again.

Ive had it most of this evening, as low as 80kb/sec :(

iaTa
07/12/2008, 22:21
Yeah I was just about to say could this be due to ALT. Seems massively overkill to me though. I'm still running at a constant 100 KB/s - been like this for 3 hours now. Not happy.

I know a lot of people say ALT is not port throttling, but it's just as good (or bad) as. Time to start looking for another ISP I feel. Shame.

joe90
08/12/2008, 13:53
Yep. its odd.. though this weekend i was up to 820K for quite a while..

but yep.. i assumes its the 'throttling' for that is what it is, that is happening.. More pipes, just don't keep piling on customers..

Just done the tests now and I kinda think that 718kbps is pretty dam slow. :(
Off to put in a ticket

Speed is back up again - looks like I have an intermittent problem, will see what they say anyway

I'm getting officially sick of these issues. Considering how expensive an 8Mbit line with capped downloads is with Adsl24, the least I'd expect is better service than this.

At this point I can't download anything faster than 100k or so, and I pretty much can't play any games at the same time as my latency is over 999ms. My IM sessions disconnect and reconnect regularly, and sites take forever to load... it's a joke.

I definitely do not expect to have to pay for a month when I failed to receive the service I payed for.

iaTa
09/12/2008, 06:27
Yeah I agree. These issues started happening when they implemented the new Central Pipe load balancing. My guess is that they turned ALT up a notch at the same time.

Why has no one from ADSL24 commented on this yet?

joe90
10/12/2008, 16:14
hmm im back down to 100K now.. And restarting the router I cannot get off Central 1.

Im wondering if they have started grouping people on the same Central.. Anyone getting 100k on any other central apart from 1?

Having the same problems for over a week. Sent off a ticket last night but have had no response. Phoned this evening but of course you get entanet and not adsl24. They are blaming BT and putting a fault notice to them about it. I have to resend all the same info from last night as ADSL24 had not passed on ticket info.

Not a very happy customer at present. Complete lack of a reply from adsl24 on these forums is very bad practice

Sweeney

For the record, ive found the support offered with adsl24 bang on, no complaints. Its very possible this is teething problems or a simple problem of some other kind, patience is a virtue! :D

Try calling ADSL24 in Telford. I've had a good response from the guy on the line there when I've had connection problems.

tinribs

Never had an issue with support. Think people would just like a comment on the new ALT that seems to have messed things up. I never dropped below 2mb prior to this and maxed my connection on a 7.2 central. Since the change I have dropped below 2 and cannot seem to max my connection. WHY IS THIS?

Dinglebert
11/12/2008, 22:27
After I put a ticket in both to adsl24 and a phone call to entanet my problem was solved today. My profile had been stuck. When unstuck I went back up to my old good speeds which have held solid after 10pm.
