Hi again,
This post is really just a heads up to anyone considering buying one of these consoles for a xmas or birthday pressie.
There appears to be many fake nintendo ds consoles flooding the uk at present. trading standards are making people aware of this.

Some online sites are appearing and selling this console for less than £45.00 including games!!! They usually cost up to £100.
Be aware at car boot sales as they are appearing there too!!
Its only when you recieve the item ordered, that when you open it, only a console is in the box.
No Charger or worse still a Fake charger WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD YOU MUST NOT USE!!!!, also No guarantee card etc.
If you have an original ds then you would notice that the Box it came in WAS sealed.
the fakes come unsealed.
hope this info helps some of you hard pressed people out in adsl24 land.
Nothing worse than seeing your hard earned dosh go into hands of lowlife especially during this worrying credit crunch .
You have been warned!!!

just to make it even more clear.....

the DS in question IS NOT FAKE.... it is a genuine DS, just not one intended for the European markets... it is the iQue DS. It is an official Chinese release of the DS. It is capable of playing any regeon games, but the firmware has been modified to block the use of "pass through cards" so you cant play downloaded roms on it....

the issue is with the power supply is that it does not have a CE mark on it. that is what the issue is really about. and rightly so... If you find one of the iQue DS for sale, it is safe to buy and use so long as you bin the power supply it comes with, and buy a replacement UK DS lite PSU.

The reason the boxes are un-sealed is so that the non CE psu can be removed. as far as the guarantee card goes, even if there was one included, it would be worthless as Nintendo would not honor it.

If the DS WERE fake, then trading standards/customs would have the powers to confiscate the consoles but as they are a genuine Nintendo product they are powerless... its no more than a Grey import.

the end of the day, you pay 40 to 45 quid for the console, plus a extra fiver on ebay for a psu its still half the price as a regular DS lite! make your choice, the choice is yours if you wish to take the gamble.

the bigger question that should be rased, is that if a DS can be manufactured and imported into the UK and placed on sale for 40 to 45 quid, while still making a profit, why the hell is the "official" uk release twice the price at approx 100 quid !!! more profit for nintendo is why !!!!
