well after almost 1 year of getting constant max ip profile. In November a BT technician was at the top of our drive near the telephone poles. Apparently he was fixing my neighbours internet, when this was happening, our internet cut off, no DSL connection. So i went to see him, and he had accidentally knocked a wire out or something (he gave me his phone number in case of any problems) . Well for a few days afterwards i was getting frequent disconnections, i rang him up and he came round and fixed it. But the problem was that my ip profile had fell to 350. Luckily the next day it went back up to max. Then everything seemed fine. But recently having suffered from 1mb speeds like everyone else. I was restarting my router to try and fix the speeds. I did this every couple of days. And this has sent my ip profile down to its current 5000. Is there anyway to reset it? it's very annoying to be stuck at 5mb when I'm capable of the max ip profile.
*EDIT*
I am also experiencing disconnections at like 1am in the morning. I just disconnected now also :(
I'm also having trouble using the BT performance test. It keeps stopping at saying: "No of threads 4" then underneath it says 96%, and it just stays there, ive left it for about 2 hours and nothing.
*EDIT 2*
BT performance test works now, it was firefox being retarded.
I'd give that number a ring again, else any complaints you make get escalated to a BT call out and £200 bill.
Funny you should say that because after a year of having a maxed out ip profile with no issues, all of a sudden i am getting disconnected randomly and my ip profile has dropped to 6000 (it was 7150).
The profile dropped after i rebooted my router a few times due to the current poor performance.

BT see the router drops as a stability problem so their system automatically increases your SNR to compensate. In general it's not good to reboot routers too often because of this problem.
It'll reset if you stay connected for 1-2 weeks without a line drop.

The SNR may or may not reset. I had some line issues, which resulted in a target SNR of 9. However, even after 9 months of a steady connection the SNR remained at 9. So it is not that clear cut at all.
I had a line fault DEC 17th which BT came out to fix now I only have my profile has dropped from 7150 to 6000 sync @ 7296
Before the fault and for the last 2-3 years I have had full speed sync @ 8128, 7150 profile
My SNR seems to be stuck at 15db now where before it was 9db I have opened a ticket with adsl24 before Christmas they have spoken to BT and they won’t drop the SNR
There seems to be a Patten merging here with people getting faults then hot getting full speed after they sort it
BT need to sort it out my line is clearly capable of 8mb/s so why won’t they let me have it?

BT will not lower this I am afraid. We are unable to push them to do this as they do not see it as a line fault or one that prevents the ADSL from working. Apologies but they will not drop it for you.
