I have only just seen this, quite interesting - not entirely useful but interesting for saddos like me. A nice little touch that I like, good on ya James! However, a question - I know you explain what nodes are... but where are they housed, who owns them and are they expensive? Just curios :D

They are located in mini-data centre type buildings, and they have been installed by Entanet at each geographical location. The IPSC nodes are at 10 of the 20 WBC node locations.

A pity there will be no nodes (as far as I kow) in North Wales - things always seem to go wrong when they cross the Welsh border! ;)

Also, it seems rather odd that there are 2 solitary connections to the Birmingham node on Anglesey while all the surrounding connections are to the Manchester node. Any idea why? :s

The Assembly have put in millions supporting Fiberspeed the link goes from Holyhead through to Manchester, but as far as I can see at the moment it only supports business but will open up to home users in the future.

maybe ADSL can jump on board?

Thanks! I imagined them to be little humming boxes of flashing LEDs that gathered dust in a telephone exchange somewhere.

There's a big OC connection that runs through Northumberland, on it's way to Glasgow from London. It goes through some of the remotest parts of the the country, miles from nowhere... I have often mused how easy it would be to jump on it :D

Cheers, James"

I have in the past used :-
http://adsl24.co.uk/networkstatus.php
to check how busy the system is.

The new system appeared O.K. before last week, but since Fridays outage, all the items on screen are blank, except for an arrow showing where I'm connected ( Sheffield )

The source was temporarily turned off by Enta on Tuesday...

Yeah, but lets see how Enta describe temporary. Almost a week already, and no sign of it coming back as yet. Doesn't fill one with confidence if they can't even sort out their own reporting tool let alone connections.

Given the apparent head-in-sand attitude of Enta this week, I wouldn't be surprise dif it had been turned off from public view so that we don't have any evidence to throw at them.
