View Full Version : activation question
Hi
My ADSL24 adsl activation is set for monday 16th please can I be sent an email to tell me when it has occurred because looking at some of the other threads it might take anytime up till 8pm?
Thanks
Cecil.
Until BT update the system (which may even be the day after) there is no way to tell if thye have done it or not without you trying the new usernmame/password in your modem/router, or if your connnection goes dead with your old ISP...
James
thanks - I'll just try it on the day then and see.

Sorry to butt in, but I wanted to mention, cecil, that often your old ISP will NOT just drop off the line, You will maintain your connection with them until you manually disconnect AND log into ADSL24 for the first time. This is the same with any new ISP.
I thought I should mention this as the first time I ever migrated from an ISP I sat there all day wondering why my old one still worked. At about 11PM, my new ISP's tech support said "Erm, did you actually TRY to connect to us yet?". "Nope, just thought my old one would fall off the line first..." LOL
So, do try throughout the day (or evening, if you're at work) to check for the migration completing!
Welcome aboard :)

Thanks for the info and yes it's the first time I've ever migrated.
thanks again.

Also, if you are on a non-MAX package with your current provider you'll just have to check your Sync rate. As soon as you see it change, just log off and enter the new adsl24 login details.
Or even better - get downloading quick... download as much as you can before you get booted off.

Thanks - at the moment I'm on the 8mb MAX package with plusnet my router usually lists this (is this the sync rate? or is that obtained from somewhere else?):-
Downstream Rate: 8156 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 608 Kbps
Only downside was that my actual connection was on the Tiscali LLU with Plusnet and I had to pay basically an activation charge to adsl24 to get off the Tiscali LLU - not adsl24's fault more the fault of plusnet putting me on that.
thanks
Cecil.

I see... you could also check the BT status under your account, mine got updated 10 minutes after I got switched on. Apart from keeping trying every half hour or so, that might be your only solution.
thanks I'll do that on monday when it is meant to get activated
