It seems a bit cheeky posting this here but hey i use adsl24 at a different location.

We had our O2 "access package" go live today, initial excitment turned to huge disapointment. I know speedtest.net isn't 100% but we're just getting between 104 - 107kb/s and 200+ms compared to 6000+ and 30ms on my adsl24 connection 5 mins walk down the road.

There were the results from speedtester.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 64 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 94 kbps

This test was not conclusive and further testing is required.

And also this from the router settings..

Anyone know why the connection rate is so slow and how i can change it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Callum

You are in your 10 day training period and guess what it doesn't get any better:(

my results tonight with o2 Access

http://www.speedtest.net/result/403024521.png

the ping result is wrong its actualy 135

I have my mac and will be moving away from o2 before being locked into a 12 month contract.

Day time speeds are brilliant and pings go back to normal also

Cliff:)

I'll wait out the 10 days, if it's not improved dramatically then i'll change to adsl24. We only went o2 here because we're o2 mobile customers and get it a bit cheaper. But actually adsl24 is only £3 more per month but it's obviously well worth it because my other line has been faultless for over a year now.

I did think about O2 as my wife's mobile is on O2, but what you are experiencing in the peak hours is what is being reported widely in other forums. They have sold the service too cheaply and attracted a huge influx of new users for which they don't have the capacity.

My service is running fine with ADSL24 even after the switch to IPSC, so I'll be staying for now at least.

By the way how nice to see a thread with no swearing or asterisks. Well done produx for your campaign against this in other threads! Sadly it reflects a wider decline of standards, with swear words punctuating every sentence in some peoples' speech and sloppy SMS type script being used instead of normal writing conventions.
