As requested, this is a thread purely for discussion on the new look site (not its content in general unless there is a mistake etc) so feel free to let us know what you think and if you feel anything looks or sounds wrong.

Package information for office: error

Upstream speed
If your exchange supports ADSL2+ we will provision your line up to 1.4 Mb upstream - else provision your line up to 448 kb upstream and then upgrade you once ADSL2+ is available. You will be informed prior to signup which service is available.

Should be 832Kb

Yeah it definately does look good and has a more windows operating system feel to it. Personally I liked the old one better, there was more options instantly available on the front page, and I liked having the left hand list rather than looking to the bottom of the page. Just my 2p worth

i must be blind lol, i couldnt find a link for the forum anywhere. i typed it in manually to get here in the end.. its probably staring me right in the face. other than that it looks ok so far. although i agree its easier having the list on the side, then you dont have to scroll all the way to the bottom everytime.

Could the link for the cPanel/Webmail under Support Links perhaps please be added as an icon with all the other icons/options in the My Account section? At the moment we have to scroll down to bottom of the page for that, and as it is part of our account packages, I think it would make more sense. Besides, there is a link for Ticket System under Support Links, which is also available as an icon in My Account panel (where it should be). Duplication?

Other than that, looks great :)

Each page load in the forum is causing IE7 to pop up the "do you want to display secure and unsecure items..." dialog.

I guess something is on an insecure server. If it's easy for you to move or copy it then that would be less irritating.

Is this right.. on the Home package

Monthly allowance
This is your monthly usage allowance which is measured between 8am and 12am weekdays. If you exceed this you will be given a futher 1 GB and capped at 128k all day/night until your monthly allowance resets or you purchase a top-up.

Should the text in bold not be 8pm and 12am weekdays?

Cause it looks like this, meaning, Home superseeds office package even during daytimes but lasts till midnight.

Office - 8am to 8pm peak
- 8pm to 8am off-peak

Home - 8am to 12pm peak
- 12am to 8am off-peak

dkimber

Should the text in bold not be 8pm and 12am weekdays?

Its correct Home users Chargeable (Peak) period is from 8am in the morning to midnight weekdays. All other times its "non chargeable"

So basically your peak allowance is only used in those times. Weekends and between midnight and 8am comes from your free allowance (subject to being "controlled" if you are a heavy users in these times).

As i read it though business have priority between 8am and 8pm, so Home users are "less important" then.

I have the same issue (again) with the network status page.

It just says:

Error

Cannot determine your current gateway.

They must be an underlying problem here though because it's not the first time it's happened. I'll just have to turn my router off, wait a while and then reconnect to fix the issue.

Overall I think the new site looks cool... just waiting on the 'Forum' button ;)

I assume you are asking me. I was. It's OK on http.

Because of the lack of a link I typed "/forum" at the end of an ADSL24 url. I'd been on "my account" page from a link in one of your support emails which was https. Because it worked I sort of incorrectly assumed that the forum was https.

wfnuk, we've been through this before in another thread... I have the page in my favourites and even if I didn't, I'm perfectly capable of picking an option in a combobox! Besides, none of the 3 options work.

There's just something about my connection/current session that their system obviously doesn't like and it prevents the network status page from working correctly now and then. I don't suppose it'll ever get fixed as it's probably enta's problem.

Not sure if these have been mentioned yet:

On page https://adsl24.co.uk/broadband_home_new.php
in paragraph
If you are unsure where to find your line attenuation click here. Once you have obtained the downstream line attenuation from your router, compare this figure to the chart above to estimate what your line may be capable of on the up to 8 Mb ADSL service or the up to 24 Mb ADSL2+ service.
the link gives a "Dave" error.

In the Package information it might be sensible to include of a short indication that during the "Free extra allowance" time speeds may be significantly lower. (I guess details of the usage-specific differences in the ALT operation will be included in the new T&Cs?)

And in
Monthly allowance
This is your monthly usage allowance which is measured between 8am and 12am weekdays.
I would add "(midnight)" after "12am". I know it's not strictly necessary but it's a common problem that people are unsure about the meaning of 12 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Vulthoom
06/02/2009, 00:13
Weekends and between midnight and 8am comes from your free allowance (subject to being "controlled" if you are a heavy users in these times)..

Until now we have had 300Gb to play with.

Could someone from ADSL24 give some idea of what constitutes "heavy use" 50gig? 200?, 300? 500? before being capped.

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/312.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/312.6

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.20) Gecko/20081217 Firefox/2.0.0.20

On the My Account Log in page, the 'Log in' button is partly overlapping the password entry box (25% of the right side end) when displayed in Safari. It's not blocking use, just unsightly. It is displaying correctly in Firefox.

You did ask for feedback. ;)

Thanks again for your help.

2 issues I have noticed James:-

1) Clicking the "Ticket system" link (https://adsl24.co.uk/myaccount/tickets/) at the bottom of any page (when you are not logged into "My Account") doesn't take you to the ticket system after logging in - it takes you to the default "My Account" page. This link works fine is you are already logged into "My Account".

2) The Ticket list at https://adsl24.co.uk/myaccount/tickets/ doesn't seem to show accurate information in the "Updated" column. I have just updated my ticket a few minutes ago and it is still showing "Mon 16th Feb 09, 13:09". It has now been updated twice since this time!!!

James, the adjustment is an improvement. It has moved to the right in both Safari and Firefox, but still has a 1/4" to go in Safari. ;)

It's a good thing you've got plenty of patience when it comes to attention to detail. :D

It's one of the reasons that I'm so happy with ADSL24.

Yep. I'm aware of this because if you are not logged in it cannot show you the tickets page. I'll try and make it work so that it remembers the URL to go to after logging in if you are not already logged in.

*edit* this has now been implemented and works.

This is done on purpose because our own admin ticket system will keep moving your ticket down the queue for every update you add to it before we have answered, so to keep it in it's correct place in the quere to ensure we respond quicker it' like that by design (hope that makes sense)

I know this is rather old, but ran into a typo at http://adsl24.co.uk/voip/ :P

Peak is defned as 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

Why is that a typo? It relates to call charge band times.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but, Network Status page (http://adsl24.co.uk/networkstatus/) is no longer showing what Interconnect I'm connected to. All the bars are there and seem to be functioning, my IP Address and Hostname is showing correctly, just no arrow pointing to my Interconnect any more.

madriss
10/05/2009, 20:27
I can't see what interconnect I'm on either. I used to be on the London one but London isn't even listed there now. Not sure what's going on with that?

Thanks for replying. At least I now know it isn't a fault on my end, I was beginning to wonder about that. ;)

James

Yeah, unfortunately we can no longer retrieve this information due to server resource limit's on Entas system (they limit it to 1 query per IP address (e.g. our server) per minute)

madriss
10/05/2009, 21:10
Ah ok. Do you know what one I'd be on though as London is no longer listed?

Hmm...if I were paranoid I would begin to think this is a conspiracy on Enta's part. To avoid a black mark for a high download rate when ALT is in operation one checks one's Interconnect to see it hasn't gone into the red zone, but, Enta now makes it impossible to even know what one's Interconnect is any more.

Come back Frank Kafka :D

Nah, its not impossible, just means you have to use the Entanet NOC site directly...

madriss
10/05/2009, 23:25
The NOC site doesn't tell me what one I'm on. Maybe it's because I'm supposed to be on London but it's not there?

How? I can get to the 21CN Interconnect Status page at http://noc.enta.net/21cn-interconnect-status/ but it shows the same info only in dial form instead of bars and no info on how to bring up my Interconnect. :s

Try http://noc.enta.net/centralpipe/?un=username@adsllogin.co.uk&pw=password

(Obviously inserting your own login username and password on the address bar).

Well I never, entering that URL complete with username and password into my browser fired up my Feed Reader with an RSS feed giving me more info than I dreamed of.

Could not this link be put on the Network Status page with info on how to use it? I'm sure it would stop a lot of head scratching and frustration ;)

Thanks.

Remember to refresh the page when you revisit the feed though, otherwise the date/time of the last visit is displayed.

I made a little vista gadget a month or so ago, it renders this feed in a nice little gadget that goes on your desktop, see http://adsl24.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=87225&postcount=25 for more

I see from the title of that page from where it's downloaded that it is a Vista gadget. Does this mean it is incompatible with XP Pro?

One can use Vista gadgets for XP, e.g http://www.thoosje.com/

Google it lol. Or have a look at this

It has evolved quite a bit from the original design.
