Hi

I have just been migrated to adsl24 today - put in my new connection details in the router and it works.

Some sites are slow to load e.g. www.ebay.co.uk , www.dabs.com, www.google.com

is this usual or is there something I can do to fix this?

thanks

Cecil.

I have just tried it on an xp machine and it seems ok is there anything I can do to check why my vista machine is slow loading webpages since migrating maybe its an mtu setting?

thanks

Cecil.

I think I might have fixed it after running this

http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks

and then drtcp and setting the appropriate settings it seems a bit better.

thanks

Cecil.

Also change the MTU setting. Some sites do like a lower MTU, say 1400. It seems to be different of every line. Also bear in mind your line might be on a 10 day training period, so lower speeds and the odd disconnections can occur...

Hi James,
Is there any way to know if you are on the 10 days of training?

i am migrating tomorrow and wondered if this is going to happen again?

Always treat the first 10 days after migration as a training period just to be safe :)

BT won't accept any fault reports in these first 10 days...

My issue seems to be just an MTU issue with Vista as when trying the same site on an XP machine and my Vista machine the XP one worked perfectly and the vista one was slow or had to be refreshed before it would load.

After making an MTU change on the vista machine and rebooting it is all ok and loads very quickly so my issue was fixed by running that site and altering the appropriate settings via drtcp.
