It looks as though your connection is unstable, and DLM (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/maxdsl2.htm) has increased your target noise margin to stabilise it; this has resulted in the reduction in speed. Have a read of these pages (http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/troubleshooting.htm) to help identify the cause of the problem.

Agreed that you should investigate your SNR, don't make the mistake of reconnecting the router several times in a short period of time, the DLM may interpret this as instability and increase your SNR. The SNR goes in steps of 3db ( 6>9>12>15 ) your measured 11.4 will be the 12 step, it's not an exact science.

The parameter you cannot alter is the attenuation, you can get an estimate of what you should expect with your measured attenuation of 41db from http://adsl24.co.uk/images/page_adsl2chart.gif

The 834G should work with http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm and give you a graph of SNR against time.
