When i signed up to ADSL24 over a year ago i put my telephone number in and it said i can get 8mbit. Just tried it today and it now says 4mbit. So whats changed?

I live pretty close to the exchange (5 mins walk) so why cant i get the full speed?

All that's changed is a figure in the BT database. It tends to be conservative, but it doesn't affect actual performance in any way.
