I keep reading about this - people saying that they 'changed' central. Everytime I've reset my router I always go back onto the same one - Global Switch 1. Heh?

Why?
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3237 kbps

Not that I'm that bothered - it is getting close to 10pm - but Global Switch 1 does say I should be able to get 7.2mb....

When Global One first kicked in (mid Dec 06), everybody wanted to be ON it. Now its the punishment central :D
Send an email to Entanet, Pull out your plugs, disconnect everything, go to bed, wake up, connect it all back up again and............yes, you are connected to Global Switch Central One..........Congrats
Otherwise I don't know, its pot luck. I'm on Telehouse 2 at the moment, and if you want, I'll fight you for it :D

Good luck

Try unplugging the phone line from the Router or Modem or you could unplug it from the Microfilter on the Phone Master socket wait a couple of seconds then plug it back in, This is the only way I could get mine to change Central and I have just changed from Global to Telehouse 2 if I left it unplugged for a long period I always finished back on the same Central hope this helps.

At the end of the day.............its makes no diffreence.
You are with Entanet for another month, so you will have to lump it :D
Just thank God you are not on TeleTubbies 4 :p

The only way I could change Central was if I didn't leave the phone line unplugged too long, I more or less plug it straight back in I went from Telehouse 1 to Global to Telehouse 2 it should change Central but of course you cannot guarantee which Central it will change too, but don't forget that your connection is also governed by your distance from the exchange and the contention at your exchange, I hope you sort it.

i would like to change central as well. i always seem to be connected to jujuba, central 1. whenever i check the pipe status after 10pm this is the consistently lowest speed pipe. will try the unplug/replug tonite to see what happens for me. i gather may have to do a few times before the change takes place. could someone confirm if that is that correct please?

It usually just happens on first try...

just disconnect your PPP session try not to resynch as the dslam will think there is an issue and this may cause you other issue's.

I move around pipes but always end up back on 1 or 2 as you will see if you find my other posts on this subject

I asked question why when i get onto central 4 why i only sit their for 2/3 days before being moved back to central 1/2 but the entanet rep said that entanet do not move people around.

Funny because once I am back on central 1/2, I stay there???

James sorry if it sounds like I am whinging I am not, overall service is great and I have only had couple of speed issues which sorted themselves after 1 day.

Just this little niggle that depite all the posts on adslguide I am no nearer an answer.

hi. just to report back. had to do the unplug/plug in 5 times, reboot my computer and do a hard power off/power on with my router before anything changed. but i am now on central 2, dogwood. will see what happens now in terms of how long i am on this pipe (whether i get moved) and what the speed diffence is. when i changed pipes last night, there was just under 4 mbps difference in speed between central 1 (2.1 mbps) and central 2 (6 mbps)! this was around 11.30ish i think.

i would just like to add something without sounding patronising...does it really matter what pipe your on unless your suffering serious speed issues? since my migration on wednesday ive benn on central 1 (ironwood) and have seen it go into the red and not noticed any problems unless im downloading and even then it only starts to go red round about 8!!

Yes you are right it is something that just sticks in my throat.

It's like overclocking you always think you can get better:D

As I have said I am more than happy with ADSL never had any major issues

Sorry to be a newbie with these pipe changing stuff, what are the benefits of changing all the time? How do I find out which pipe I'm on?

Or rather use our own tool @ http://adsl24.co.uk/centralstatus.php

anti - not a lot, as what goes around comes around. If people move from one pipe to another, then that pipe ends up being busier - so there is no winning :)

The only thing I do to change Central is unplug the phone line for a couple of seconds, it's swings and roundabouts really I was on Central 4 for quite a while but I wouldn't say my speeds were any better or worse than Central 2 (chestnut) which I am on now or any of the other Centrals,

Please remember that if you reboot the router/modem is quick succession you may end up with the BT profile system thinking you have a problem and either lower your speed to held reduce the "dropouts" or turn Interleaving on.
