View Full Version : Resetted Router Now cannot get back on the internet? Help!

I resetted my router (Belkin 54g)


Now its sking for my settings and I honestly cannot remember!

I think its username@adsllogin.co.uk

and im sure I got my password correct (unless adsl24 sent me one?)

But I got other settings to set like PPPoE PPPoA? I think its E

and the other settings like 38/0?? I dont know what numbers to put?! and 1500? only lets meput 1494 sumthing.


Also Im tring to get back online using WIRELESS! it impossible for me to go back to cat5 cable (Unless I really REALLY have to)

Making the changes to your ADSL equipment

As stated above, you will need to make a small change to your modem or router configuration. These steps are outlined below under the modem/router headings. You may also like to note the following settings which you may (or may not!) have to choose on your router:

* Multiplexing/modulation: VC-MUX or VC-BASED
* Encapsulation: PPPoA or PPP over ATM (RFC2364)
* Authentication: CHAP or Auto
* VPI: 0
* VCI: 38
* IP address: Automatically obtain
* DNS: Automatically obtain

Yeah that helps thats the settings I was after thankyou, Im 100% sure I know my password When I get back fromUni I try these settings and see if it works lol

....and 1500?

This is the MTU setting. On my router, it's set to 1400, which works fine. If I set it any higher, I've found that I'm unable to browse some web pages.

ADSL24 used to recommend an MTU setting of 1500 but stopped recommending that setting after finding that it was problematic with some routers.
