Hello Users of ADSL24

We have just got our mac code due to ADSL24 deciding to stop our account due to "Over Usage" we used over 80GB, Personally i didn't see how we used that with the amount of things we did and what times we did it in.

However we pay £50-60 for this service which to be quite fair is a total rip off from Entanet, NOT from ADSL24 i have not lost ANY faith in ADSL24 just there supply from Entatwit they have no sense AT ALL they decide to give you no internet for 3 Days then give me 40kbps for the next two, Then we have TWO downtime within the next two weeks after that then get CUT OFF so we have not had 1 Week of decent internet on the new 21CN,

We are moving to Sky Max Broadband now they have NO FAIR USAGE policy it does not come with it on the Max Broadband UP TO 16MBPS and they are VERY flexible on changing the settings on your account.

Today i find that if you phone the very nice people at Sky i was very pleased while signing up with them how very nice they are with you and helpful that you can get them to change your MAX DELAY to 8ms which will improve your ping to 20-30ms which is great, They also can turn Interleaving off/on by just giving them a shout, Which is great.

Coming with Sky TV as well you can have what seems like Sky 1 etc on your TV Streaming well that is what it seemed like at my grans on her Sky internet, Her line has totally snuffed it and they are doing as much as possible to get the best speeds to her line, They started at 50kbps now they are hitting 200kbps on a 60db line which to be fair she is very pleased with and the condition of her line, They have worked with her and myself who phone them.

Now we move onto Entanet Support - You phone them first thing they say is, We will put a line test please phone back in 4-5 Working Hours.
Phone again, We will do another - Same results - You would think they would not try it again
Phone next day - We will get BT to do an in depth look on your line
Comes back with a slight error

That took them 4 DAYS!

Now we will move onto ADSL24 Support, I have spoken to another one called James, VERY HELPFUL guy uses Open source applications which is even better "Open office" that's only a small thing i guess. So we get chatting on how i see we could not use that much. He explains on how the system did some bad errors due to the pulling of the XML and guessed i was a technical person so went a put me in the deep end of the information which was great more support like that guy !PROPS TO HIM!.

So if ADSL24 moved to a better reseller i have not looked around who quite frankly are a little cheaper because ENTANET are quite such a rip off.

I shall see what Sky Broadband is like i myself are looking forward to the TV 600+ of pressing Buttons YAY!! a geeks dream

due to ADSL24 deciding to stop our account due to "Over Usage" we used over 80GB

Even if you used triple that why would they stop your account. You are allowed until the 30th March or your next bill date to use up to 300GB/330GB depending on your package.

That is what i thought, However what they don't tell you in much detail or very clear is that when you go with the new 21CN or known as 24MBPS, They now cut you off and you need to TOP UP from there website

Well thats the most stupid idea i have ever seen yet. How if my internet cuts off at 8-9PM and i need the internet Customer Services are closed how the blimmin hell am i supposed to top my internet up via the internet.

Who in there right minds would come up with something like that. Topup your internet from the internet with NO INTERNET.

Package information

Monthly allowance
This is your monthly usage allowance which is measured between 8am and 12am weekdays. If you exceed this you will be given a further 1 GB and capped at 128k all day/night until your monthly allowance resets or you purchase a top-up.

I must of missed that, However.

What about this.

If you leave work at say 8-9AM in the morning, You don't know you are near your bandwidth limit, You get home 5-6PM in the evenings.

GUESS WHAT CHAPS! Customer Helpline is closed.

Now i know somebody is saying what about computer at work, What if you work in a Warehouse? Or a work place which does not have a computer/Internet.

YOUR STUCK!
Library is shut also.

Hehe, you have to laugh ;)

Keep an eye on your usage, you know, take some responsibility for your actions. You can't blame enta for your inability/unwillingness to monitor your usage.

Unlike many other ISP's, ADSL24 provides a very good usage monitor in your "my account" page. It's updated every 15 minutes. So - if you get used to checking it - you can always and easily see how much of your allowance you've used. Still, too late for that now I suppose, seeing as you're out of here.......

Im confused here, when you said you had used 80 GB was that in peak time or off-peak, as if its in off-peak they cant cut you off as im sure others would have been binned aswel.

What package were you on spuddy if it was say what iam on the Office package 45 fair enough you have gone way over your limit, but surely Enta would just bill you for the extra GB used.

Not with the current ADSL2+ packages and all the new soon to be implemented packages.
Basically you get slowed to 128k for 1GB unless you top up and can top up manually or set a limit for auto tops - it's all on the ADSL24 site.

We are with the 80GB usage limit,

The Usage Monitor does not work correctly as we moved from the Max network to the 21CN which it messes with your usage monitor.

Neelie,
I don't want my usage to be dropped AT all i would rather we got billed and my old man would rather we got billed for the next package up.

But them pulling a stunt like this is a bad idea.

We now have 4 Days of internet until we move to sky, Already we are into our second day and have used 12GB already and 10GB Yesterday,

My Downloading clients are going maxed out constant for the next 5 Days, As i say i have no care for the Entanet Network nor our bandwidth as 50GB in 5 Days seems quite nice to me.

Perhaps you should care for the other users of entanet though. We are in effect subsiding you just because you can't be bothered to take some responsibilty for your actions.

Why not schedule your downloads in off peak time? Why leave your PC running when you leave for work?

With your sort of attitude maybe Enta are better off without you anyway.

Old system.
Pay a regrade fee and also pay for next package up, have to use it in the remaining part of month or lose it.

New system.
Buy topup(s). No regrade fee and any unused bandwidth rolls over to next month.

I don't regard this as "...them pulling a stunt like this is a bad idea..." more like an excellent improvement.

I don't want to have to keep TOPPING up the internet everytime we get low.
Thats plain stupid.

You've missed a major point of the new system, the top ups don't expire they are there till you use them.
It's quite simply really, you can just buy a month's worth - plus, say, 10% to be sure -at a time, they only cost £91.90/100Gb including VAT.
If that's too complicated you can even change the default setting from 'slow down awaiting a top up' to the auto one where top ups are debited from your account to a pre-set limit.

Jules

I don't want to have to keep TOPPING up the internet everytime we get low.Thats plain stupid.

Surely not plain stupid - topping up's an established and accepted practice in the mobile 'phone world. Of course it's worth shopping around for the best deal or for the package which suits you best. I've done that with my mobile 'phone and with my internet service. If you've done that and found Sky suits you best at the moment, then that's fine. No criticism from me for that. But I will say that calling Entanet plain stupid just because it's deal doesn't suit you or you don't like it - that's not really fair.

The Usage Monitor does not work correctly as we moved from the Max network to the 21CN which it messes with your usage monitor.

I'll have to watch out for that - today I got e-mails saying BT engineers are in my exchange moving stuff on to the 21CN system.

Hello Users of ADSL24

We are moving to Sky Max Broadband now they have NO FAIR USAGE policy it does not come with it on the Max Broadband UP TO 16MBPS and they are VERY flexible on changing the settings on your account.

have you not read skys usage policy?

http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/broadband/terms/usagepolicies

they do have a aup policy for fair use and traffic management/shaping for peak (5.pm-12am) and offpeak hours and i do know from some of my clients they have suspended contacts and access for heavy useage untill the the next billing period.
and they do record your personnal usage details for selling on to third partys.

So what do you class as a liberty taker then. IF someone has signed up to a 45gb peak and 300 gb off-peak they are entitled to use every bit of that bandwidth so again what do you class as being a liberty taker.

Also my m8 has been with Sky LLU for over 6 months and lets just say he gets his mony worth in his bandwidth usage. and he has not had one email from Sky telling him to curb his usage, to me that is virtually unlimited.

Liberty takers are people who just download all day and all night and then if they run out of bandwidth blame the whole world because it can't possibly be their fault.

The same people who think they are entitled to full speed 24/7 on a contended service because they are 'paying for it'.

The people who pull out in front of you at junctions and reward you with the finger, you know, the ones that couldn't care less about anybody but themselves.

Buster1967's friend sounds like one, he even brags about his acheivements to his friends

I paid for my car and it's capable of 160Mph but I don't drive it 24/7 at that speed, oblivious to everyone else on the road!

If people are not happy they should leave and not spend day after day bitching at how awful speeds are for their constant downloads.

Clear enough?

Liberty takers are people who just download all day and all night

Surely that isnt possible without going over their limit. IF you have something that states you can use 45gb/300gb pm i can if i want use that amount not that i ever have or would but its there all the same.

I for one don't expect full speeds 24/7 i don't even know what the full speeds are on a 8mb connection. i don't do speed tests as i simply don't want to be disappointed if its crap.

I also left ADSL24 11th FEB for sky I was really unsure at the time about sky because most people put them down (been available in my area for over 12 months) but speeds of 200k on and off from adsl24 (entanet) really pi$$ed me off so I thought can’t be any worse for £10pm instead of £30pm.

I have to say best move ever I get full 16meg (1.6mb/s) never dropped and every time I go to dl something it’s at full speed I have never downloaded below 1.6mb/s (Usenet)

Pings were a little high at start but all I had to do was ring sky and get my max delay set to 8ms, Now I get pings of 30ms when online gaming used to get 20ms with adsl24 but I can live with that for the extra speed and £20 a month saving

Be aware that sometimes when changing max delay your sync can drop by 1Meg like mine did. 1 call to CS and they sorted it there and then. 16meg again unlike the fight me and adsl24 had with BT which took a month to get be put back from 6.5meg to 8meg after line fault.

It's a shame I really liked ADSL24 as an ISP I knows this entire problem is not their fault (entanet) but happy I have moved on.

1.6 mb/s for only £10 a month :)
