Multicast

Hello first of ive just literaly migrated successfully. My main question is what service do Enta off in terms of Multicasting. Are they on the BBC Tech Trial? If so how do I use it. Thanks.

The latest thing on this site (http://noc.enta.net/) is:


Multicast is now working again, the rp was not being advertised to the whole network as it should have been.

We have now added the BBC News24 stream on to the NOC wall to enable us to see real time if multicast fails again.

I haven't a clue what rp means in this context, or what a NOC wall is, or how to access the multicasting. Help, please. :confused:

I thought multicast meant it was on radio and Tv at the same time. :) or is that a simulcast ?


Years ago if there was a special concert on Tv they would tell you to turn the Tv sound down and tune in your hi-fi to a certain radio station to hear it in stereo.

yeh, your getting confused, what i do no (i think) multicast is a system were they delivere a cast ove the web however i think the bandwidth is shared, ie, its similar to P2P (i think!)
