View Full Version : Where is the 'ADSL2+ upgrade icon'?

Moved to the new packages and my exchange is sorted for 21cn, an email said 'Should you wish to upgrade, simply log in to your My account page with the username shown above and your normal account password and click on the ADSL2+ upgrade icon.' where on earth is that icon? :s

Anyone? Gonna consider moving isp at this rate, seems to be a total lack of clarity and explanations recently to do with most things. :(

From what I gather it's an automated process that BT Wholesale will perform.

Read somewhere that it is up to BT to migrate you. Apparently they do this in batches. If you don't want to be part of the "herd", you have to pay, I think, £11 which is pocketed by BT.
So, basically, it is done automatically.
Personally, I am more concerned with the ALT because even if I go 21CN I can't really take advantage of the speed - have to watch the status page like a hawk when downloading to see if the ALT is on or not!

Cheers for the replies. I opened a ticket a few weeks ago and this is the reply:
Hi there,
From the 6th you will be on the new pacakges and from there you will be able to select an ADSL2+ speed increase. There will be a button in your My Account page that will allow you to take the increase in speed. Just hit it and it will take effect 24 to 48 hours later..
Thank you
Def should be a button somewhere from reading that? :s

As I understand it (or don't) if your exchange is enabled it's up to BT to move you from 20CN to 21CN, they do this in batches, you can pay a 12-13 quid fee to fast track your line moving though.... Anyways, once your specific line is on the 21CN equipment there should then be the magickal 24Mb button. On thursday/Friday I'm hoping to see my button appear, as my exchange is 21CN enabled, and my line has a move date of thursday/friday. (woot)

My line is on the 21CN equipment and I'm now on the new packages, no magic button anywhere I'm afraid!
I believe my exchange was 21CN activated a week or so ago, how can I find out when my line is due to move to 21CN kit or indeed if it has been already?
I'm sure I should have an ADSL2+ upgrade option, too. But I can't find it either.:s
Here's why I'm sure........
In My Account - Line Reports says this:-
Line reports are not currently available on the 21CN WBC platform.
On 2nd April I got an e-mail from ADSL24 that included this:-
This is just a quick e-mail to let you know we have received notification from BT wholesale that they have now moved your line over on to their new 21CN equipment at the exchange. This means that you are now able to take advantage of our new ADSL2+ speeds which offer up to 24 Mbps downstream and 1.4 Mbps upstream subject to line conditions etc. Should you wish to upgrade, simply log in to your My account page with the username shown above and your normal account password and click on the ADSL2+ upgrade icon.
My Account - Logs - also shows a couple of new sessions starting on 2nd April after a long period being settled on a session. So that's consistent with work being done on my connection at the exchange.
Thinks I'll raise me a ticket about this........

https://adsl24.co.uk/checker/ will tell you if your exchange is enabled, but I think you have to make a ticket and ask james to check with BT. My exchange was activated on the 30th, and there was no time table yet for my line so I tossed a tenner at it for fast tracking as I'm an impatient git :)

Yup, think you're right :) maybe they'll fix the button thing so those of us still waiting to be moved won't have to do the speed bump via ticket form :)

Thanks for the info, ADSL checker has been showing ADSL2+ results for a week or so. Have fired a support ticket in, like you I'm kinda impatient with this sorta thing so will probably opt to fast track it.
Out of interest, do you go into another "training" period when migrating to ADSL2+? Following a recent (fixed for 2-3 weeks now) line fault which it took BT a month to fix, my SNR margin is somewhat higher than normal (15db), costing me a chunk of sync speed at the same time. I'm trying to get this looked into, just wondering how trying to migrate to ADSL2+ at the same time could muddy the waters.

If no one else knows, I'll let you know once I'm migrated to ADSL2+ (this thursday/friday I'll be switched to the 21CN on BT and Enta's hardware respectively at which time I'll either click the magick button, or create a ticket asking to be given the speed boost). As they are BT I suspect there's a training period if they think they can get away with it, but it should be somewhere north of 8Mb unless they are exceedingly cruel. I'm currently on a sync rate of 8128, a noise ratio of 14.2db, and a line attenuation of 28 which according to http://www2.farina1.com/adsl/ should give me between 14Mb and 16.9Mb, which I'll gratefully take :)
Personally given your situation I'd still switch to ADSL2+ it may well fix your problem as one of the advertised advantages is improved line stability / less drops. Worse case scenario you'll at least be switched to different equipment at the switch which could help to identify where the problem may lay, and there's no (reasonable) chance you'll lose speed.
Then again, I'm a dreamer, who is hoping that once I switch to ADSL2+ I'll finally be able to hang up the voice line.... (long story short, with the line hung up, I get connection drops, and sync rates ranging from <3Mb to 8.1Mb, and BT says this is not a problem as adsl is supposed to change speeds throughout the day do to people turning on their heat or whatever... and whenever BT has visited they've synced at 3Mb or higher, which is acceptable for someone who is <1000 meters from the exchange. Yes, I'm a tad bitter :) )

Still no button, been on 21nc for a couple weeks and moved to the new packages
I paid for fast track to adsl2+ and was told upgrade would happen today (8th of April)
Did this all through the ticket system, but I havent been shifted over yet. Anyone know what time this usually happens?
EDIT: rang entanet up turns out bug in system, will be activated on my billing date which is tommorow luckily.

Still no upgrade button or whatever, no payment been taken yet for this month and confusion over everything else. I'm not one ever to complain but as a paying customer this isnt too good really.

bump because i'm still not getting any bloody answer from adsl24, I dont care if James is a nice guy or whatever, doesnt excuse posting on 'his' forum on 'selected' threads and avoiding others, many others. I am a customer and pay for a service not a mate hoping for a favour. If you dont know the answer to your customers questions, its good practice to let them know you will find out, not ignore them!

Still no button, payment taken or an answer! Gonna be grabbing my mac at this rate
Hi guys. Simply raise a ticket with ADSL2+ upgrade in the subject and we'll manually submit the order to BT. We were hoping to have the automated button in the My account page but as of yet there is no automated feed for us to hook in to on Enta's side so we're having to do the regrades manually.
Ah, right. Thanks, James.
Still not been moved over even though my exchange is enabled and paid for fast track over a week ago :(
The fast track is two steps. All BT do for the charge is move your line on to the WBC 21CN platform, but on the default 8Mb ADSL1 service. We then have to place a modify order which takes 48 hours to upgrade the line to 24Mb ADSL2+ but due to the bank holiday and no BT orders being processed until Tuesday it's sat on hold at the moment.

Do you know how long BT usually take to move your line on to the WBC 21CN platform if you pay for the fast track?
Also how much does it cost?

James you told me that the modify order to switch my line onto 24Mb would happen on my billing date and I would have to wait. Are you saying this can actually be done sooner? If so I would like it done ASAP please.
Kobrakai, fast track takes 5-7 working days, (£11+vat) meaning you jump the BT queue as they of course have loads of lines to upgrade to WBC so do it in batches.

That is still current, unless you are already on one of the new packages?
On my account details page it says:
Your package
Home 30 (new)
In that case, yes we can do it sooner. I'll badger BT tomorrow for you.
My adsl2+ upgrade appears to have been done but i wouldnt of noticed if i didnt check my emails.
My downstream connection speed i dont even think moved from what it said on my router before the upgrade, but my upload has doubled.
Is there a training period on this? Quite unimpressed, im about 2km from exchange but i expected to actually notice a difference maybe 2mb extra atleast. I sometimes peeked 700kbs when downloading when on standard adsl now im getting 640kbs on adsl2+.
I am confused about all this migration to 21CN
My billing date is 14th/month.
My account page says -Home 30 (new)
Emails from Enta & ADSL24 say that it will be around 24/25th but Entas email also says that it could be before.
Today I have drop-outs and end up with a better line.
I am probably somewhere but I have no idea where and no way of telling:)
Could someone please explain this:

Been running like this for the past few days, ever since ADSL2+ 24 mbps modify order was put in place.
Not good.
Does not look good :(
My speeds now are worse than before the upgrade for the majority of the time... new technology = step backwards. Ive been told there is a training period on the line but i thought that meant it would increase over time not go backwards.
What's odd is that after I was moved over to the new 21CN equipment in the exchange (but before the ADSL2+ 24 Mbps modify order was placed) I was running at full speed (850 KB/s) for a few days. The BT engineer told me that there were only about 30 connections on the new equipment. At the time I thought it was great as I'd never had those speeds with Enta.
Now a week later after some nice downloading I'm lucky if I can get over 300 KB/s. No flags on the ALT status feed. It just looks like pure traffic management (or the "ALT") which kicked in after a few max speed downloads. The Peterborough node never looks very busy and it's definitely not my local exchange.
Here I go again. Sigh.
Yep i was downloading through the night and now im down to less than 1mb speeds, feels like im being throttled.

At least you can get on ADSL2+. Entanet keep emailing me a date for the changeover then when I phone up the day after I find out it’s been pushed forwards another month again, the reason being: “there were problems”.
I cant even pay for fast track apparently as the order has already gone through. Starting to think it would be quicker to change ISP to get on ADSL2+.
Hi, I was told that my line would be switched over to adsl2+ on the 20th (today). My connection seemed to stop working not long ago so I rebooted the router and I do seem to be synching at a slightly higher speed. Does this mean I have been switched over already ?
I wanted to check my account however it seems to take a very long time to login and sometimes the pages won't even load at all. All other websites and even this forum are fine.

We've been on the phone to Entanet the backing system which gives us the feeds are taking a long time due to heavy load, this issue should be resolved shortly.
Ok thanks for the heads up :)

Ok thanks for the heads up :)
No problem, I understand your stress it's the same for me at the moment! :p
Just so I know which part of the account control page does it appear on ?
Just got this through
This is just a quick e-mail to let you know we have received notification from BT wholesale that they have now moved your line over on to their new 21CN equipment at the exchange.
This means that you are now able to take advantage of our new ADSL2+ speeds which offer up to 24 Mbps downstream and 1.4 Mbps upstream subject to line conditions etc.
Should you wish to upgrade, simply log in to your My account page at https://adsl24.co.uk/myaccount/ with the username shown above and your normal account password and click on the link titled "You are now able to upgrade to the ADSL2+ service. Click here for more information".
however on going into my account I don't see that option anywhere. Am i just being blind or something ?
Just so I know which part of the account control page does it appear on ?
It's now appeared for me - and I've used it to order ADSL2+
I logged into my account and a pale blue box appeared above the option icons on the "My Account - Welcome" page. The text in the box was:
"You are now able to upgrade to the ADSL2+ service. Click here for more information."
And the "Click here" was a link to the upgrade order option & button.
Hmm that's weird then - it's not there for me yet. Hopefully it will appear at some point.
It took a while to appear for me. I had an e-mail like your saying my line had been moved over on 2nd April. At first I was getting mixed messages about whether my line had been moved over or not - and so whether I was able to upgrade yet or not. I started a thread about my confusion - "ADSL24 says I'm on what it says I'm not on". I went away for a few days after Easter and came back to find the upgrade option had at last appeared. So maybe a delay in the option appearing will be routine, or maybe with so much going on and so many glitches around the delay has been just one of those things and that folk'll not experience it in the future.
Just to let you know the link appeared for me this morning when I checked before work so have finally put in the upgrade request. Not expecting a huge increase in speed but every little helps.
Just as a thought when I'm upgraded a training period starts doesn't it ?
I don't know.
My upgrade was done today, according to an e-mail I've had. So I'm about to find out! Line details in "My Account" aren't available in 21CN WBC yet. But I've just run BT Speedtest and my IP profile is 5000 - as it was last week. That's the best it's been..... I've had it for a while before, but it usually alternates between 4500 or 4000. So at least any training doesn't start off at the bottom of the profile scale.
The good news is that the job was done quickly...... I came home from holiday on Sunday, put the upgrade request in on Sunday night, the order was placed with BT on Monday and now on Tuesday apparently BT reports it's been done. ADSL24, Enta & BT getting something done fast deserves pats on the back all round for once, methinks.
