Hello to all in the world of ADSL24,
I have been going through the migration process in the last couple of days and am transferring over to ADSL24 from Eclipse on Thursday 26th April.
I'm currently on an 8mbps package with Eclipse but due to my distance from the exchange (around 6.5km - 7km, even though I'm a small 1.4km from my own towns exchange, frustrating is not the word!!!) I only sync at 1344kbps downstream. I had the BT engineers out when I moved in last year and they installed a faceplate with integrated filter on the master socket and disabled sending the ADSL signal to other points in the house to strengthen the connection.
Here are my router stats:
Connection Speed- Down: 1344 kbps Up: 448 kbps
Line Attenuation- Down: 63 db Up: 15.5 db
Noise Margin- Down: 5 db Up: 14 db
My speeds are fairly constant, pulling a max of about 110kB/s down and sending at full speed (47kB/s). Unfortunately though my BT profile states that I can only obtain a 512 connection. After speaking to the very helpful people here at ADSL24 I decided to go for the Home 500 package as it should lower some of my stats and help the reliability of the connection with it being a fixed speed rather than a Max package.
I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to gain more speed in the future? It is not a problem going onto the 500 package but I'm just wondering on whether I'm consigned to this speed at this house for the forseeable future??? I know I'll be getting a better, more reliable connection for it but will be missing out on quite a few precious kB/s.
Anyone's views or opinions would be appreciated.
