View Full Version : New speed limit even when ALT is off?

Perhaps I've missed something but I'm surprised that my speed tonight is keeping at a steady 2 Mbps even though the ALT is off (Manchester node).

Since midnight I've been keeping an eye on the load, the ALT status and my maximum speed when the ALT is off, and both the ADSLguide's and BT's speed test as well as "saturating" multi-thread download requests all give a value of 2 Mbps. Normally I would get 6 Mbps when the ALT is off.

The load on the interconnect has been below 90% since about 00:40 or so.

The BT test confirmed that my IP profile is unchanged at 6500, so that can't be it.

Unless something weird is going on at my end, I wonder if that's the latest surprise from Entanet? Has anyone seen something similar?

Sounds exactly like my problems.. been stuck on what appears to be 2MB for over a week now...,

Have an open ticket with support, they say theres nothing wrong on their end tho. Really can't understand whats going on. Am going to swap my router for a new one today just to rule it out, I think I'm clutching at straws tho :(

Glad to report that a call to ADSL24 revealed that this wasn't the latest Entanet policy (but it was still a problem at their end). So I had a "speed limit" imposed on my account (not a wrong IP profile!) for no particular reason, which has now been removed.

Such a problem is usually when BT have a higher profile on their system but did not pass the new profile speed on to Enta and therefore Enta's systems still had the old speed level on their system, which was probably lower.

Be glad ya get 2 meg lol,, mine when through the floor on the 10th with a ip profile drop, not a happy bunny :(
