It's day 15 for the ALT, so as I understood it, flags gained on the 30th March would drop off the end but they have not so far. Has anyone else's flags reduced by 1 today so far ? or am I mis-understanding how it should work ?

As I understand it,14 days clear without any black marks then all marks are wiped clear,so 14 days from the date of last mark and you got a clean license to start building up again to another 5.

I thought that was only if you had 5. If you have just 4 or less they should start to clear surely?

I would hope they would clear after 14 days from each mark but i don't think that's the way it works,I think it's 14 days from the last mark then all marks are cleared whether it's 1,2,3 .4 or 5

Can i ask, how or where u got this information as this could be very useful to other customers and we would like to find out that this is ACTUALLY a true fact!
Thank you :)

Yes, what boysteve says tallies with what James said a while ago:

Note that the "last mark" isn't necessarily mark no. 5, which put you into the heavy user category, but it could be a later one if you manage to acquire new marks while being in the heavy user category.
Anyway, that's how I now understand it.
(Thanks to boysteve for correcting my false hope that any mark would disappear 14 days after it was awarded!)

I got my first bad boy mark yesterday during peak hours ; time for which I've paid £30.
Am I supposed to forget that I'm the paying customer?
Treating me like this has made me run to Sky from the 20th.
But then , I guess that this was Entanet's intention...they've won :(

This is from Joe Lockhart today after I made a query about the ALT system via a support ticket:

There markers don't reset until you get to 5 after which you have to stay out of the top 2% for 14 consecutive days and then all markers are removed (Eg. Back to 0).

I have been marked as a high user three times two of which were more than 14 days ago. These were for innocent downloads such as a game I had purchased and BBC iPlayer.

I've had enough now. I feel like I am being punished for using the internet like a normal person. This ALT system is unfair and is unconsiderate. Entanet can sugar coat their ALT system as much as they want with reasons such as bandwidth costs and BT but it sucks and no other ISP has such a system in place. Its too complicated for mere mortals to understand let alone do anything about.

Tomorrow I request my MAC code and move to Sky. OK they don't have the excellent customer support like ADSL24. However their fair usage policy was easy to understand. Not only that they are cheaper and save me money compared to the three companies I use at the moment for TV, phone and internet.

Sorry ADSL24 I appreciate it's not you to blame. I hope you do something about Entanet as it is them who are ruining your reputation and business.

Goodbye and thank you for all the fish!

How likely is this to do being realistic its nothing short of a disgrace.

OK they don't have the excellent customer support like ADSL24.
I don't feel ADSL24 even offer excellent customer service any more to be quite frank:

- the phone lines only seem intermittently manned and it's completely random if you get through to someone or end up on hold for god knows how long
- James only pops in here once a week if we're lucky, and then he cherry picks which questions he'll reply to, ignoring everything contentious (ie. the stuff we'd actually like answers to)
- even when you do get an answer from someone it seems that it's always something James is going to speak to Enta about in x days time, at which point he goes to ground and you never hear any more about it
- failing the "talk to Enta in 'x' days" excuse, it's "give it a chance to bed in" for months and months on end
- MAC codes are now being withheld making it difficult to leave

I will grant you the CS here used to be fantastic, but for the past 3 or 4 months it has been absolutely shocking - even Be's support was better than this. And all this while paying through the teeth for an office product that becomes useless during evenings and weekends! I love my ISP!
