Hello everyone,
I am looking to migrate from Tiscali to ADSL24 soon, but before i do i have a few questions.
1. If I were to join under the Max Home 60 package and exceeded the 30Gb/month peak usage what happens, are my tubes shaped?
2. Is the 30 Gb/month peak and 330Gb/month off peak both u/l and d/l combined?
3. Once I join is it free to change my plan?
4. I am currently with Tiscali (they are hopeless as im sure you know) and have a 2Mbps connection, if I were to join under the Max Home 60 that allows up to 8Mbps do I have to pay any money to "upgrade" my line? (the line is capable of 8Mbps)
Thanks in advance
Finally I would just like to say i can wait to join the ADSL24 community and experience unrestricted non FUP internet!
1. Max Home 60 has 60gb/month peak I think and I'm unsure what you mean by tubes shaped. So far as I know you have to pay an admin fee and then a fee for every GB you use.
2. Yes upload and download are combined
3. Yes it's free to upgrade/downgrade your plan
4. You will get as much as you can from your line depending on the distance from exchange, quality of line, noise on line etc. If you have any problems with speed the support here is excellent and the guys will sort you out to the best of their ability (freephone support, forum support, ticket-based online support, e-mail etc)
Also looking at your username I would presume you are looking for a good ISP for gaming. This is the one mate. On virgin I had unstable pings 50+. Here I get 24 ping to UK servers and <50 to other european servers will no instability. And if you are a heavy film/game/music downloader. So long as you adjust what time's you do this the off peak 330gb is more than the vast majority will ever need to use. By having a smaller limit on peak hours they can maintain an excellent performance from their servers. It makes sense.

I think you mean the Max Home 30 package - this is the one that sets a 30Gb/month peak usage (300Gb/month off peak).
If you go over your allocated monthly limit ADSL24 will not cap, throttle (so no tube shaping) or disconnect your connection. Instead, there is a £5+vat admin fee plus the difference up to the next package you use up to. This will appear on your next bill.
After Tiscali, you will feel like you've gone to ISP heaven here!

Hello all,
One more question before i get my MAC from Tiscali; Would ADSL24 as an isp have any problems with me having operating a La Fonera (linus)?
Thanks
-Ubergamer
Nope, but you would have to be careful with your bandwidth usage though as any over usage is paid for by you not the clients...
Also make sure anyone using it agree's to the T&C's
Thanks

James, thanks for your help.
Is any one else in the adsl24 community a Fonero?
Coming from tiscali myself, i now know that 8mb MAX cannot be recieved via a ADSL modem. Order yourself an ethernet router. I still find that hard to believe that they were offering a MAX service without offering the appropriate equipment. The mind boggles.
