Hey guys,

Ive been reading the forum for sometime now, recently BT have screwed up my internet and capped me on 512k even though im paying for up to 8mb, blaming my length of phone line being 10 kilometres long, yet the exchange is on my road and directly oposite my window, i can probably flick a stone and hit it. My contract ends on July 16th, but I am fed up and I want out to migrate to ADSL24, any suggestions on how I can do this without paying £80 to end 2 months early because im just tired of this now >_<. My phone line is
Downstream Upstream
Line Rate 576 Kbps 288 Kbps
Noise Margin 30.3 dB 30.0 dB
Line Attenuation 15.0 dB 8.5 dB

so im not concerned about not being able to get 8mb, I just am sick of BT making stupid excuses for why they have me set on 512k if not worse. All i want is adsl24 :(

The line is by far capable of 8meg. (Did we talk on the phone over the weekend?)

Can't understand what BT are playing at. Might be because the line checkers all say 512k max for your line (which is wrong)

Not really any way to get out of a 12 month contract though :(

Yea it was me you spoke to mate :) I tried to get the MAC code on sunday, was in the que for 50 minutes then they hung up on me because they closed. The contract ends in July, but im sure if you have the speeds I have right now, you just know 2 months of it will be depressing and a waste of money. Is there absolutly no way out? They will give me the MAC code, but i'm not paying £80 to cancel, thats just a joke.

Not really :( That's why we hate twelve month contracts and don't do them!

Wouldn't the bad service bla bla bla thing not work? I'm desperate here, I liked the way when I rang for my MAC code before they gave it to me they were trying all sorts of schemes to keep me lol.

But its not in their eyes a bad service. Your service is "working" and the fact they won't upgrade you is probably not get out type of reason :(

Try to blag it with them...

Their latest excuse is that I may not be connected to the exchange on my road, or my exchange is doing it on purpose for what ever reason that may be. Why would 1 week it work fine, the next week as soon as i move from option 4 to option 3, just collapse and also change the exchange im connected to. The lady on the phone said she has an exchange on her road, but she is connected to one miles away (point?) Anyway, she checked the exchange im connected to and it does say Epping, and since its a small town, theres only going to be one, so I think that excuse is cancelled. If they are doing it on purpose, I wish they would tell me, otherwise, I might aswell not bother paying for up to 8meg..
