Wasn't sure which forum to put this in.

What is the wait-state for switching to adsl2+ currently?

Applied 3 weeks ago and seem to be still on adsl, though throughput is good and reasonably reliable.

I know BT had a backlog, but what are we talking here, weeks or months?

Best speed I've ever had :D
Shame I've not been able to do a BT test for over a month...

I`m seeing the same answer over and over again on many many forums. It seems like it`ll be a waste of time for most ppl ,and they will end up with slower speeds than advertised for them ..

Like said, for now, stay away from it.....

My speeds more than doubled after changing to ADSL2, I couldn’t be happier!

Remember, people don’t often post when things are good so all you see is a forum full of complaints.

When I first changed over my speeds stayed the exact same, now they are almost double. Still not as fast as they should be according to all estimators, but definitely an improvement over ADSL.

Same with me. My speed has doubled since updating to ADSL2+. From clicking the "upgrade" button, to being upgraded took me a week.

Well I'm still on adsl, but I'm deffo not complaining - since being switched to the new network (WBC isn't it?) even on adsl I'm getting better speeds than I could dream of before 27th April - it's fantastic and I'm for once very pleased with my connection.

Regularly up to 3.5MB/s and downloading at 350 - 400kbps on good sites, that's dreamland for me and I now consider myself satisfied. adsl2+ can take a year as far as I'm concerned now. :D

It took me about 5 weeks. Synching at 3800 on ADSL1, now at 5962 on ADSL2. (2+ is about 400 slower.)

adsl2+ change completed.

Connection speed about the same - maybe just slightly down, but still no problem.

Ping halved (yay! back to BF2 multiplayer :) ), upload speed doubled.

Haven't checked out the router stats yet.

The profile may take a few days to increase also so it should increase...

and this after a reboot:

lots of upload errors in there! SNR not looking too hot, either.

aah - you posted as I was doing the stats info, James.

Yes, I thought it would need time to stabilise - and I'll have another look at the stats in a week.

thanx ;)

Hokey Schmokey - now been on adsl2+ for a week and though the first week got a bit iffy at times and the IP was set at 3000, it has now been increased to 3500 and things are much better.

On adsl I had a good speed of 3.5 - 4MB/s so I was hoping to get the IP raised after BT set it to 3000k when they switched my line to adsl2+.

All the speedtests for a 3000k setting were excellent and the profile has gone up - so I'd say if you switch to adsl2+, just have some patience for a couple of weeks and if by then things aren't sorted, start asking why.

If things continue as they are, I'll be happy. Strangely, though, the upload speed has dropped to around what it was at 2MB, though that isn't a big issue for me.

Now I'm not so happy - after increasing the profile to 3500k and my net performance increasing accordingly, including all speedtest results being what would be expected for that profile, BT have now cut it back to 3000.

What cheeses me off is that they do these things with nary an utterance of a syllable in explanation in a classic abuse of their monopoly which is run like a dictatorship.

If all is well and they still go ahead and cut my speed (especially when it was better on the supposedly inferior adsl), then I want to know why.

I see my connection rate has also gone down from 4195 to 3819kbps.

And now I'm very angry!

These useless dorks have now reduced me to 2500!

I thought things were slowing down, so did a quick test... and what a surprise! BT have surpassed their cretinousness (:p ) yet again.

Despite the excellent speeds I was getting on 3000 - and why shouldn't I when 3500 was perfectly okay - they see fit to drop me to 2500. Thanks.

If it goes on like this, I can see me ditching broadband altogether.

Still set at 2500.

Have to say, having to wait and then being hung up on by adsl24 telephone 'support' isn't the way to keep me as a customer and as the responses to previous ticket queries have been well in excess of the stated 24hours (in fact well in excess of 48 hours and more), my previous ISP is looking rosier by the day.
