View Full Version : Speed of connection
I've been with ADSL24 about 36 hours and the speed of my connection has decreased from 4544 to 1152 looking at the line page data but has not changed in the last 24 hours. I've been to the BT speed test site and having performed 3 tests at 0600HRS today getting an average speed of 924kbps. I'm 2.56km from the exchange and believed when taking up ADSL MAX I would get a speed of approx 4000. Do I actually have a problem or is what I'm seeing typical for a new account?
If your router connects at 4544 you should be getting speeds of up to 4Mb. If its now dropped to 1152 it suggests BT may have accidently put you on a fixed 1Meg line. Can you post your router stats so I can confirm?

Looking at your Max reports, it seems you are still On Max, but your line rate is all over the place. This is usually down to internal wiring or extensions in the property. Also, Sky boxes, faxes and other devices can cause low SYNC rates.
Please try your router in the test socket of the master socket (let us know if you are unsure how to) and tell us the speeds your router shows you being connected at.
Because your line lost SYNC and reconnected at 1152 - BT will have temporarily put your line on a 1Mb profile (thats how Max works) - but you need to sort out these issues else it will keep happening.
