Hi I finally got my adsl2 last week, My upload speed has gone up to 1meg but my download speed has gone from 6meg down to 4.5

I always get these sort of problems. I remember back when I was a kid I could not have a cb radio in the house cos it strangely interfeard with the thermostat for the central heating.

Next door neighbours cb radio made my turntable go fast and slow :s ;)

Is that line sync within your router or is it a result from a speed checker?

think yourself lucky im paying £29.99 for this

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 4541 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1032 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3261 kbps

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.

Many factors could be resulting in a lower speed Mudturtle, are you recently activated on ADSL2?

Don't think I'll be too far behind you. Want my 8mb connection back.

Have you tried resolving your issues?

No, I just looked at it and got dis-heartened.

Ah, I see. Passed the training period?

Well passed. So far the only solutions I've heard of involve switching back to ADSL1 and then back again to ADSL2+ (also heard that it doesn't always work). Seems there are 'incompatibilities' with some of the MSAN's BT installed. There were a few people with the same problem as me (locked to 6655kbps) but not sure what's happened to them (probably already migrated :s).

Joshua - we are still locked and being patient.

Best thing for it really, there's no real need to have super fast speed all of a sudden. You aren't paying anymore ideally.

yes i have been told that BT will not lower the SNR unless it goes outside of the threshold only then will your speed increase
but how long do i wait the speed is so erratic, youtube and iplayer are a no-go

I've stuck around long enough (since March) waiting for this to be resolved but it has come to the point where I can get a faster service on plain old ADSL than ADSL2+ offers me and I've seen no signs of that changing.

The promise of improved speeds and better control over line options (I'm thinking target SNR margin here) with ADSL2+ kept me on an Enta based connection when in many ways it is probably not the best bet for me any longer (most of my bandwidth usage is peak and I have little need for unlimited off-peak with the speed issues that has been known to cause). Neither of those promises turned out to be true so it seems like there is no longer a reason for me to remain here.

So basically I have run out of patience and I migrate out next week. I'll keep an eye on what happens to anyone stuck with the 6656kbps sync and may well return when (if?) it is fixed but for now it would be crazy for me to stay.

It's a shame because I have generally been very happy with the servicde provided by ADSL24 but they are at the mercy of BT when it comes to WBC/ADSL2+ which appears to be fundamentally broken. If a decent LLU provider were available to me I'd be off of BT's network like a shot but sadly the only options are Orange and TalkTalk so I'm stuck with a sub-standard service no matter which ISP I choose!

Good luck to anyone still waiting it out, hopefully ADSL24 will eventually manage to kick BT into action over this and a BT based ADSL2+ connection will become viable.

I Dunno what planet you are on but eventually 1 way or another your gonna end up on ADSL2+, 6656 is a lot better than what i get currently.

I have had the adsl2 for about 2 weeks now. I have also noticed pings to many game servers and my own website have gone up. I have a friend who lives a 2 minute walk form the exchange getting the full 24mb. He rubs than in when ever he can on xblive

I had the same prob as you guys (limited to 4500kbps on ADSL2+).

Now on the same line - just on LLU and can sync and hold connection at 19000kbps+ (16mb)!

BT really do suck. :(

I got what is the standard BT response, not our fault, it must be the customers router.

Just adding my voice to this thread as well.

20 months on ADSL@ 6MB.

Upgrade to ADSL2+ = 13MB for several weeks - and now I'm stuck with:

Your DSL connection rate: 14415 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1084 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1869 kbps

And BT are, apparently, suggesting it's my router that is at fault. They would say that, wouldn't they....

I too was stuck on the 2mb cap and went back to adsl1 to try and fix it but no joy. Then it was fixed and my speeds returned almost 1mb faster than I had before.
My router stats say I'm on adsl2 not + so I'm staying put don't want to risk adsl2+ in case it breaks again.
I'm not certain but if your on a WBC exchange is adsl2 what you will be on if you don't upgrade to adsl2+ ?
