BT Hub question [Archive]

Hi

I migrate around the 3rd and have a BT hub (not the white one off the telly - its the model before that). Can I still use this with ADSL24 and if so is it a case of inputing my user details into the hub configuration website?

Hi,

I'm no expert (one will however be along shortly :D), but I can say that usually BT supplied routers are "blocked", or "locked" into that single ISP. You can flash the firmware to unlock it (make it available for use with other ISPs) - but I don't know what the procedure would be for a Home Hub.

They're not generally reputed as great routers anyway; perhaps consider a Speedtouch from DSLDepot.co.uk? Welcome on board at any rate :D

If the router is not locked and lets you enter a username/password then yes - it will quite happily work with ADSL24 :)

I will wait and see - I do have a USB speedtouch in reserve should it fail...
