About 2 or 3 weeks ago, my net suddenly started timing out a lot (every 2-3 minutes), i rang up adsl24 and they said i had '400 hex errors' on my line, and that the problem is on my end, they suggested replacing the microfilter and/or router. So i got a new microfilter, it worked for 2 days, then it went back to timing out again. I got a new router, thats worked for the past 3 days, but now the time outs are back :(. It's every 5 minutes, and then it comes back up after about 1-2 minutes. Any ideas?

Get anybody(s) Computer.. Hook it up to your router/modem & go from there..

If you can not do that the reinstall the OS...... Sorry........

It seems a OS Prob.

Just bumping this because someone needs to have a look..those stats look ALL wrong to me, but I don't know enough to even guess at what's happening there. Possible fault somewhere and I don't think it's your kit.

Did you open a ticket?

Hope you get sorted:)

If you copied and pasted the above directly from your netgear stats then there is something very wrong. The Line Attenuation and Noise Margin stats look reversed. eg. Noise margin should be 6.6 down and 30.6 up.

You need to confirm this. If you have a noise margin of 6.6 then you are very marginal as the lowest should be 6. There is something wrong either internally on your cable. Have you looked at your results by plugging it directly in to the test socket?(see sticky) If this is the result at the test socket then there may be a line fault which is a BT problem and you need to open a ticket to get this investigated.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 288 kbps 1155 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.5 db 13.1 db
Noise Margin 31.9 db 6.8 db

They are the stats at the moment.

Those stats make no sense for a adsl max connection; the figures look reversed. Here are mine;

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 29.0 db 14.5 db
Noise Margin 9.9 db 24.0 db

If you are on adsl max you shouldn't be getting 1155 kpps upstream as this should max out at around the 448 I've got. You need to open a ticket and have this investigated.

Note that James said this was acceptable before adsl max when you expected 2MB speeds but in order to get up to 8MB the SNR has to be lowered to get a stable line.

You're in the wrong forum and this question should be posted in the LLU support section.
