I am constantly getting server timeouts! It would seem to be my connection. Can you check it for me?

Hi menthel. We need a bit more info than that. Is everything else working, browsing etc? Is it just that games? Have you rebooted the PC? Are you using a modem or router etc? Can you ping the server?

Sorry about the lame post. Everything else works, it is only il2 (I no longer play any other games online). My PC has been rebooted and I use a netgear dg834g (off the top of my head!). The frustrating thing is that it was working before hand, it literally stopped working mid session. The connection timeouts either whilst loading or just after the game starts.

Is it still the same now, or was it just last night?

Same 2 nights in a row. I am unfortunately at work at the moment!

Let us know tonight and post some actual traceroutes so we can see where the latency is being introduced from.

Stupid question, but how do i get a traceroute?

Hi Menthel

to create a trace route, you need to have the name or IP of the IL2 server you are using to hand.

Go to Start > Run. Type in CMD then click OK

In the command prompt box, type in: tracert <server ip/name>

Then let the trace run. When it is finished, select the text and copy it from the command promt. To do this you will need to right-click on the title bar of the command box and select Edit > Mark so you can select the text. Then right-click on title bar again and select Edit > Copy.

Then Paste onto the forum.:)

Weeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllll. It would seem that my xp reinstall fixed the problem. If it goes funny again I will do the trace. Fingers crossed!

Also note BT have been having some real problems in the past day or two so it may be that too! :)
