Last week I found I had developed an extremely noisey line - my connection had dropped to about 1mb and the phone plugged into the filter was unusable.

So I swapped out the microfilter , speed went back up , line quality improved problem solved.

Yesterday whilst tidying I decided to open this old microfilter to see if anything interesting was inside and guess what I found....

Two resistors next to each other with one lead in the air bridged by ... 2 dead ants.

Needless to say it was terrifying - like some modern version of the movie phase five ;)

That's it. It's official! Ants are to blame for faulty Microfilters. I can see the headlines in a month from now - "ADSL Ants Prefer Microfilter rather than Ant Hill!"

heheheh ... I must admit I was expecting some melted components or something over dead things.

Needless to say all around the master socket has been sprayed with numerous flavours of ant poison. I wouldnt normally but making my interweb slow for 3 days means war!

Can you buy an Ant Eater as a pet nowadays? That would be handy!:p
