View Full Version : 2Mb cap
After 15 days of constant connection and download of 11.5Mb my connection was dropped some time last night and this morning I am back to the 2Mb cap that I , and several others, had when I was moved over to adsl2.
I have raised a ticket and hope that this will be resolved shortly.

Came back this afternoon and speed is nearly 10Mb. Checked router and snr has been increased from 14 to 15 and the ip profile has dropped from 12 to 11. So for 15 days of continuous connection you are rewarded by an increase in snr and decrease in speed. I added this to the ticket and will see what happens next.

I suspect I am suffering from the same, I have been on ADSl2+ since the 6th August & after the connection dropped a day ago my SNR is 15 & BT Speedtest reports the profile is 7150 on my line but the throughput is around 1700-2000 kbps - Before ADSL2+ throughput was around 6000+ kbps & SNR was 8-9 at most. I will be monitoring for a few days to see if it picks up before raising a ticket.
Good Luck & please let us know how you get on

Ticket raised (666kbps down but 939kbps up!)
To bring everything upto date - My connection, after several hours at 2Mb, came back to nearly what I was on before. After several messages on my ticket I received one today that said that was not a problem and that if I hold my sync my speed should return. 15 days constant connection got me a 1Mb reduction in speed so I wonder how low the next speed increase will decrease my speed.
What's your IP profile been like? You see, I've been having a problem for a few days now - decent sync, but very much lower download speeds that expected. Cause = IP Profile dropped without apparent cause despite session length and sync rate being good.
E.g. last night and also this morning I was able to download at full speed for my sync rate (just over 4000kbps with an IP Profile of 3500). Then out of the blue the speed slowed down. The cause was the IP Profile dropping to 1250. But my router logs and also my ADSL24 userCP logs show that I hadn't lost connection at all. So why the drop in IP Profile? That's the subject of a ticket. Anyway, could your problem be similar?
Hard to tell as I find the BT speedtester comes up with errors alot of the time and then won't let you try another test for 3 hours. When I do get a result the ip profile hasn't changed, apart from having dropped 1Mb after the original problem.
