Whilst i appreciate that I'm on my initial 10 day period I'm not impressed that my speed is getting slower and slower, slower even when i was on Tiscali!!!
With Tiscali my lines IP profile was set at 2000kbps,when i moved to ADSL24 it dropped to 1500 kbps and now its set at 1000kbps so its getting slower and slower not even hitting 1mbps on a line that can support 6.5Mbps(according to BT)
Can anyone give any feedback as to why this is as currently its not very impressive, thanks

Are you leaving your router on 24/7?
Ive found connecting at roughly 1-2pm during th day gives a slightly higher connection than at like after 4pm onwards through the night.
I found my BT sockets were causing my some trouble. Turns ot i was getting 3mb tops with them, then I fixed them as ADSL24 (TY James ;) ) sugested and not im getting about 5-6meg easy!!

No router, its a USB modem and the sockets/filter are all fine.

A decrease in profile like that is caused by what's known as a "low sync event" whereby your modem has synced at a value low enough to move you down into the next profile band.
I would suggest you revisit your wiring and filters as this is the usual cause for this (search these forums for "ants"). In order for your profile to go back up you need to maintain a higher sync for 3 days.
Visit http://speedtester.bt.com and paste the results back here. Also post your modem stats if possible (some are but I don't know which off the top of my head).
Please post a test result from the BT test and also your router stats so we can see what's happening. This is not us limiting your speed, as we do not have the facility. Its a BT profile issue.

est1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 1000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 1728 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 845 kbps
If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.
Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.
Previously with Tiscali I was on the "Max"(upto 8mb) service and know the DSL connection rate for downstream was 3100 kbps and achieved speeds of 2.7Mbps.However i changed to the "2Mb" service and this dropped to as above with the IP profile being 2000kbps,since moving to ADSL the IP profile has dropped to 1000kbps with speeds of 900kbps.
I have a Speedtouch 330 modem and the set up has not changed including the filters etc from day 1 with Tiscali when i could achieve speeds of 2.7 Mbps, any particular info you want from the diagnostics for the modem?

THis means currently, your line to the exchange is connected at 1.7Mb. Your profile will rise back to 1500 if you stay on 1728 or above. If your line then drops below the 1536 it will go back to a 1000 profile - this is how the BT profie system works.
It's not really fair to compare profile/SYNC rates between ISP's as the ISP makes absolutely no difference at all. Its entirely based on your line to the exchange.
You say your setup has not changed - but filters can go faulty as can cables and extensions? What setup have you got as regards to sockets/filters/extensions.

RJ11 cable goes into the master socket which has a filter which I've just changed aswell as the RJ11 cable, the sync rate is currently 1600kbps.
Furthermore I'm not comparing sync rates between Tiscali/ADSL24 and saying Tiscali are faster etc I'm well aware this is a line/exchange issue I'm merely stating the facts that my sync rates have fallen from when I was still with Tiscali and continue to fall. However as BT tell me that my line can support speeds of 6.5Mbps I would have expected seeing faster speeds than less than 1Mbps considering my set-up is textbook(went through all this with Tisclai many, many times). Is it possible my IP profile has become "stuck" at a max of 2000kbps,unfortunately as an ex Tiscali customer speed issues are something well known to me and other former Tiscali customers and are something of a sore point so apologies for lumping this on you.
~When you say BT say you can get up to 6.5 - do you mean the BT checker says this, as that's probably the worst website for accuracy every. About 30% of people actually get what BT's checker says they can get :)
Have you tried the test socket?
It could be that because of your disconnections lately, BT has changed your SNR profile so that it connects at a lower speed to be more stable.

Haven't noticed any disconnections well perhaps one since signing up wasn't aware BT had changed my SNR profile, mind you with peak times you expect sync rates to drop what with the SNR margin decreasing but I have not noticed any difference in sync rate it always comes in currently at 1600-1700 kbps regardless of time of day.I am about 3KM from the exchange so not over the long line threshold of 5KM but appreciate it is far enough that along those 3KM my line could be experiencing electrical interferance that i know nothing about or being nibbled by the local wildlife!!.Ideed maintaining a good sync for 3 days may well be impossible and my profile may regrettably remain limited, however as it has been higher quite recently I am putting this entirely in BT's court.
Your right that it was the BT line checker however saying that i have a friend who is 300m down the road who syncs at 5500 mind you he is with BT.
Yes used the test socket-no change
So this looks like its a network issue and one for BT to resolve mind you lets be honest that isn't going to happen and looks like I'll have to lump it,any further suggestions would be welcome and thanks for the feedback.
We can log the fault with BT if you like - and it may come to it we can get an engineer out, but they can be fussy if the line is actually working when they get there.
If your modem is connecting at 1600-1700 kbps regardless of time of day, then your profile will always be either 1000 or 1500 - that's correct.

Thanks, but no need for the BT engineer yet besides I have a mate who is a BT engineer so I can get him to look,he does acknowledge(whilst BT won't quite)that the network just isn't upto the job for fast connection generally and over the coming years there is going to be major upheaval and hopefully improvement. Its just poor service when BT say that you can get certain speeds dependant on line condtion and distance from exchange when what they really mean is you can only get these speeds if you live IN the exchange.I'll have to hope I get lucky and the sync improves as getting under 1Meg just doesn't cut it,thanks for the feedback and if things do get worse I'll raise a ticket.Cheers
