a big hi again to the crazy world that is adsl24.
I have general queries regarding my adsl24 broadband connection speed.
I migrated from the dire isp provider tes***** to adsl24 on about 4 weeks ago
I have just completed btspeedtest and here is the results.
quick note- please be gently with me as im a newbie and unfortunately i aint a tech head!!
Btspeedtest result
IP profile for your line is - 2000kbps
DSL connection rate-448kbps (upstream) 6336 kbps (downstream)
Actual IP throughput achieved during test was - 1855kbps.
Is this a good connection? can i better it?
I only use single pc at home and modem is speedtouch 330 usb connection.
3 phone line sockets all fitted with micro filters.
Im 660 metres from exchange as crow flies/staggers.
any info would be appreciated regarding how to better my connection speeds or possible hardware upgrade i might require.
thanks in advance and keep up the great work
IP profile for your line is - 2000kbps
Means that BT have your profile capped at 2Meg hence why you are not seeing anything higher. Please drop us a ticket or e-mail and we can log this with BT for you :)

thanks james for quick reply.
like i said im a newbie here, what do you mean by drop us a ticket??
what should i email you.
i hate being dumb (lol)
E-mail us to tell us you've got a stuck profile as we prefer to have a record of your e-mail so we can send you a reply / update etc. The forums are not for official "logged" support :)
e-mail support[at]adsl24.co.uk with the results of your speedtest and username and we'll log it with BT for you.
By a ticket I mean submit a ticket on our Helpdesk - http://adsl24.co.uk/cgi-bin/pdesk.cgi - but an e-mail will do instead of you prefer.

hi again james,
any update regarding my stuck profile ?
i just did another speedtest and results were as follows.
IP profile is -2000kbps
DSL connection rate 448 (up- stream) 7616 (down-stream)
Actual IP throughput during test was 1856
I am really hoping to be able to achieve faster speeds in the not so distant future.
Am i correct in assuming that BT will be able to change setting so i can achieve better connection speeds??
thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.
You will do - BT are an absolute pain with stuck profiles and all ISP's are having a battle with them as they don't seem to be solving the stuck profile issues but we never give up and we constantly badger them until it's fixed.

thanks again james for your quick response.
don,t you ever sleep? lol
so am i right in thinking that you have logged my problem with bt?
if so how long before they get the finger out.
cheers now go have some cocoa :)
Sleep - nope, what is that again? :)
Yes, it's been logged with BT. And how long is a piece of string as regards to when will they sort it. But we never give up and keep at them :) Sometimes it can be pretty quick, it all depends on who at BT picks up the fault and whether they have a clue!

hello again james,
geez you guys are sh**hot at adsl24 cause you musta kicked butt @ BT!!!
just to update you regarding my stuck profile. i've just done a further speedtest and the results are as follows..
IP profile is-6500kbps
DSL connection rate 448kbps (up- stream) 7168kbps (down-stream)
Actual IP throughput during test was 2439kbps
so i take it this means that my line is roughly supports speeds upto 6.5 mb?
am genuinely astounded at the sheer speed as to which adsl gets stuff done,
i mean 1 day to get my profile unstuck.
Big bottle of scotch on way to you bud.
cheers james and stay off the coffee :)
Correct. BT have uncapped your profile and you will see speeds up to 6500kbps (6.5mb).
Thanks for the update
