If I were you Gazz380 I'd hang fire for a few weeks as both ATI and nVidia have a new range of cards in the pipeline. This next generation will be DirectX 11 compatible.

Changing subject, which SOF2 servers do you play on. I've played the game since it first came out and ran a SOF2 server for years called Axis3000. Unfortunately I had to shut it down in January this year.

AMD/ATI's DX11 cards are out already, and at this point are likely a much better option than the equivalent nVidia offerings. The high-end 5870 beats any other single card easily, while the 5850 is a little slower and quite a bit cheaper. nVidia are apparently having some problems lately (lots of speculation - check Google) and they likely won't have competing parts out for quite a while. That said, something like the GTX 260 (https://adsl24.co.uk/pcstore/graphics-cards/pci-express/gainward-nvidia-geforce-gtx-260-graphics-card-896mb-pci-e-vga/dvi-i/hdmi-golden-sample-/prod_3338.html) is a good bet if you prefer nVidia cards.

An AM3 motherboard and AMD processor will definitely be the less expensive option, although if performance is more important than affordability an X58 motherboard, Intel i7 processor, and triple channel DDR3 memory is easily the highest-performing option. A P55 motherboard, Intel i5/i7, and dual channel DDR3 is also a good compromise.

A good power supply is important as well, particularly if you're planning on installing a powerful graphics card.

It all depends on how much you want to spend, and what you use your PC for really.

Hey, DooGie, unfortunatly i quit SoF2 about 2 years ago, when COD4 arrived i played religiously for about 4 years on Infiltration and Capture the Flag Real Damage, it got to filled with cheaters and alot of good friends left so i quit in the end, if you remember any clans called -=G|O=-, ]PK[ or =]2[= |HSB i was in those and also :: LDx ::

Cheers Benj for the info, ill have to look into it all again, last time when i previously upgraded Nvidia were top dogs with the 7 series as ATi had just been bought over by AMD, so thats how long its been, the GX Cards look ok, but if the ATi's are better then it may be the option ill go for this time around..
