My internet has been working without disconnections for months.
Last nnight I suddenly had no internet along with the this message in my Netgear 384GT Router: "LCP is allowed to come up", and doesn't go any further (tried rebooting and resetting many times).
I have tried an old Linksys WAG54G which said something similar
I have also tried a Cisco 1721 (+ WIC-1ADSL) which reports "LCP REQest" under Dialer1 and "debug ppp authentication" is empty because I imagine if LCP is not available it won't get this far.
I do *not* get authentication failure on any of the routers.
, nothing has changed at my end; the router is connected to the master socket.
What could be wrong?
Do any of the routers show that that they are in sync?
Are you using BT or LLU?
Has it re-connected after the problem started?
I had same problem earlier in the week with netgear dg834gv3 would not synch and just hung on lcp allowed to come up.
Also whilst this problem was going on, the router log file had the year and date wrong cant remember the day and month but year was 2002.
Rang Enta who informed bt. Had no internet all night, but was back on the next day.
Fault report on my account page states something about a card being changed at the exchange. So it could be a fault at the exchange rather than your end .If you still cant get online give Enta tech support a ring they will do a line test.
Heres what was done according to fault report
Update from BT - 5th Nov 09, 02:01
15 - Splitter card has been changed to clear a fault at the exchange. Please check if this has resolved the fault thanks.

I've had this message appear many times with my DG834GT it just said lcp allowed to come up and i would have no internet, it used to happen quite often, but it seems to have gone away now.
It could be to do with a problem other people are having with the Cisco kit hanging the BT card - see ThinkBroadBand forum post (http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/dslrouter/t/3682124-re-odd-goings-on-with-cisco-857s-with-adsl.html)

thanks guys,
looks like it could be all considerations mentioned. The DSL sync's up fine @ ~3.4Mbps, good SNR margin @ ~9db, I am on BT 21CN but not ADSL2+ because of 56db line att.
"Justcld" I noticed you are close to Milton Keynes, this is where I am having this problem too (fishermead exchange). It does seem to be a 21CN issue.
BT Engineer said changing some equipment in the exchange might fix it but I guess they haven't changed anything because i'm still with no internet.

I connect to the Birmingham 24/7 over crowded node . My exchange is Harvington Worcestershire
