Greetings guys.
I'm currently with Namesco and have been for 11 months. Had good service and no problems, however my current package needs a bit of a speed increase from 512k to 1mb but to do that with Namesco, I'd have to halve my download limit down to 5 gig as that's the package I'd end up with to regrade up to 2mb, and that's no good for me so here I am looking over one of the regarded ISPs I keep track of.
Just like to confirm a few things;
You do provide fixed speed connection as I'm not ready to go with max as I'm on a longish line?
Payment methods.....currently using card debit but would prefer direct debit after initial card payment if that's on offer?
My usage is not very high....average about 8 gig so should have no limit problems but would like to confirm if uploads count as usage also just to keep track of where I'm up to?
I'd like to have 1 meg speed but if that proves unreliable and I need to go back to 512k is there a regrade fee? I know BT ask you to cough up this usually so it won't be unexpected if there is :)
As I'm on 512k at the moment and require 1 meg, is that a problem for any changeover or is that sorted out in the migration?

Think that's it for now, thanks for any replies.

Yes, we offer proper fixed speeds (512k/1mb/2mb). We also support card and/or direct debit for monthly payment - your choice.

Uploads do count in the total, but if you go for the Home3 package (£16.50) you get 3GB peak ad 30GB off-peak, or the Home30 package (£19.99) is 30GB peak, 300GB off peak.

Can you post your modem/router stats for your line as it is now? E.g. the attenuation/SNR and data rate? From this we can give you a firm estimate if the line can handle 1Mb or not. If you sign up to 1Mb with us, it will instantly be on that when you migrate and there is no charge for that.

Thanks james.
Further info;
DS Line Attenuation 60
US Line Attenuation 31

US Margin 20
DS Margin 14

DS margin usually starts at about 23 or so and can vary quite a bit through a day, sometimes dropping as low as 6 but usually between 12-14. Have dedicated ADSL socket and wired directly from it to router, twisted pair, quality cable so think it's as good as it gets. No problems at all with signal loss since socket was fitted and switched from USB modem to Router.
I don't play online games so interleave would not be a problem if needed to steady the ship if 1mb played up a bit. It would be worth the try for me either way.
BT ckecker says ok for 2mb and 2.5 or 3 for MAX depending on how it feels....I take it's replies with a pinch of salt.

thanks.

I'd personally go for a fixed 1Meg. You can then see how that goes and if necessary it's just £5 to re-grade to 2Meg at any time in the future :)

Interleaving is only an option on 8 Mb Max connections so would not come in to play on fixed speeds.

yes, 1 meg is all I require so that would be fine and probably for the best in terms of any connection issues. Thanks for your time, James, I shall get back to you when my time is up at present ISP
