View Full Version : C&W LLU ??? Help
Ok i'll get straight to it.
Ive been with ADSL24 for just over a year, was fine at the beginning but lately speeds are just bad, really really bad, bar mornings of course.
My normal speeds on a good day are about 2-2.5mb down and 5-600k up. Which is ok asi don't live too close to the exchange. I am on the the 21CN ADSL2+ network, i think thats right.
I don't really knwo about all these new services but i got an email from enta saying that i can join there new C&W LLU service, which i gather is a good thing, i possibly would like to join, but questions are :
1 Will that mean i'm no longer with ADSL24 ?
2 What will i pay to migrate ? Do i need a mac code ?
3 Will i get faster speeds ? Or is it just more reliable ? Ping speeds better/worse ?
Im just really not too clued up on all this as it's all come in so fast. So any help or info is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance :P

Are you sure that the email was from Entanet? The only emails being sent out (as far as I am aware) are from ADSL24, and are targeted to people whose exchanges have the C&W LLU equipment in them. Assuming that this is the case then the answers are:-
1) No you would still be with ADSL24, your email/webspace etc will not change
2) Nothing at the moment, the migration to C&W is free (normally £40)
3) Much better speeds and latency. The C&W network is one of the best designed networks in the country. It is resilient, and has plenty of capacity.
You also will no longer have to worry about BT IP Profiles, there are no such beasts on an LLU network. The speed that your router connects at will dictate what speed you can download at.
Thanks very much for the quick reply pal.
Yep sorry my mistake it is from ADSL24.
So i just sign up then and i will be transfered ? i had a quick look and i think it says i need a migration code to go through the steps to sign up. How do i go about doing this ?
Will it still be a 1 month rolling contract pal ?
One more thing is i cant remember my login details to get into "My Account" either, total palava. Where should i get help for this from ?
Again thanks for help. Seems like a good choice then ?
Answers would be very usefull :P

I don't think you need a migration code, just use the link - https://adsl24.co.uk/myaccount/llucw/ to run through the upgrade. I think you will need to contact ADSL24 on Monday (01457 6000 24) to get your "My Account" details. It would have been on an email when you signed up however.
Yes, it is a 1 month rolling contract as before.
If I could get it at my exchange I would upgrade now!!
Thanks again for replying. Well apart from he recent downward slope of my internet speed i will give it a go to see what all the fuss is about then :P
I really like the comminity in here so i wouldnt want to leave that. Anywayz ive managed to remember my log in details for My account and just asked to be transfered, although they need an immediate payment for the next month to carry on with the transfer, so im pretty stuffed until Thursday as i don't have the funds at the moment.
They should be alright shouldnt they ? Do you know anyone who has LLU then ?
It seems like £18.99 is a decent price to pay if there are so many benifits, i was tempted to go for the Office package as you have Network Priority, will it be a big difference at peak periods then ?
Well hopefully they will activate yours shortly then pal :P Good luck :) I will be in here to give my opinion then once its up and running. Thank you for the help, once again :)

There are a couple of posters on these forums who trialled the product who would be able to give you an informed opinion on the service.
I am not sure what the priority is on the office package, I think this is something you would need to ask James or someone at ADSL24. I assume it will improve the speed at peak times, and result in your getting max speeds all the time.
Glad to be of help!!!! :)

I trialled C&W LLU & after the debacle of Entanet & then O-bit it's been a breath of fresh air.
For £19 the value is great & since they have waived the £46 connection fee it's an even bigger bargain.
Grab it with both hands I say :)
Yep good point to be honest :P
Well i have a Thompson Speedtouch 546 v6, will that be ok to use for LLU then do you think guys ? Is it an easy set up then ?
Oh my i'm so excited to be finally free of the BT profiling rubbish, which does rob me of at least another 1-1.5mb of d/l speed :(
Just to confirm, i may sound a lil stupid lol So i will no longer be with Entanet ? I will be with ADSL24, on the C&W LLU network ? Sorry if it's a silly question lol :P
Thanks again guys for all reply's :)

No you will no longer be on Entanet but you will still be with ADSL24:D
I would jump at the chance if I had it on my exchange:( but good luck to you I am sure you will be very impressed with the service.

Should be OK, seems to use the Broadcom chipset but James will hopefully confirm its compatibility for you.

Mine went up about 1.5mb-2mb when I bypassed BT... approx 6mb+ now

Yep, you'll no longer with Entanet but you'll remain with ADSL24 using C&W LLU equipment.
Yep, the Thomson 546v6 is fine :D

I'm a bit miffed that the C&W package offers far better value than the BE based one. Especially when it comes to tie in. Bah.....
Ok thanks again for all help and reply's :P Ok ive paid the cash for the following month and ADSL24 has confirmed payment :) So it's jusst a case of waiting to tranfered over now then i suppose.
Thanks for confirming that James.
Just a couple of last questions then, if i could.
Ok so about 4 days ago i paid my bill to Entanet from 11/09-12/09.
Will entanet charge me for leving them and coming to LLU now ?
If so, what is the charge ?
If not, will i get the money back as i'm going to be technically paying for two subscriptions for December ?
Thanks again all who reply. Many thanks :P
Oh sorry and one last thing, the reason i joined ADSL24 in the first place was mainly for it's brilliant ping's for gaming.
Are the pings going to be great still on C&W LLU for gaming ?
Thanks again :)
Enta will refund you the days you paid them once you go live on LLU, so you may get 2 weeks worth or so back from them. There is no charge to migrate, or Entanet charge for doing so.
Pings should be low yes :)
Brilliant ! Ok then James, thanks for the help there. Looking forward to LLU !
One last thing James. As i said above i have paid for LLU transfer now, so i just wait for an email to tell me i'm going on LLU ? Will i get instructions on how to set up my router to adapt to the LLU migration ?
Thanks again for any replies to all :P

Im reasonably new to adsl24. Must say I was petrified after reading many comments here about speeds being experienced by some users.
I left my original LLU isp because when one exchange went down, it crashed the whole network or seriously affected affected it such that you couldnt use it!
So, after getting stiffed for cease fees and re connection to another adsl2 ISP I was disappointed to find my speed was now down to about 2.6MB/s. Not good considering I was now paying double for the privilege!
then someone recommended adsl24. Signed up and guess what, my speed at the router is up to 5.7MB/s and the attenuation figures etc look a lot better!
I've now seen the adsl24 C&W LLU offer. Looks good although I'd like to know will I get better speed than 5.7MB/s.
If not what's the point in changing? Been told its a 'far better' service. But what does that mean if the speed doesnt increase?
Anyway, isnt the business package given priority so where is the advantage?

Any increase depends upon your line stats (SNR & Attenuation) which can be retrieved from your Router.
I recently switched to C&W & had an increase of approx 2mb over my non-LLU connection. I have a long line approx 2km as the crow flies from the main exchange in the town but getting between 5.5mb-6.5mb is good enough & it's cheaper than using BT equipment for me (O-bit was £24 a month, C&W LLU is £19 a month)
ALso, the ability to bypass BT's wonderful IP Profiling system is worth the switch in itself. Any line drops, disconnects or noise increases on your line won't mean a reduction in your throughput, your line will always connect at the fastest speed possible. BT equipment would reduce your speed & take days to see any kind of increase & you could see a stuck profile which never rose & had to get BT to sort.
There's Pros & Cons for every system, but LLU seems the better, cheaper & more stable option atm.
