Big Hi to you all here, just came online about half hour ago since migrating from EFH, shame about 186k and their wonderful customer service...hmmm

Anyway glad to be onboard and hoping for good things here, one question is how long am i looking for my line andd connection speeds to be settling down. Initially i have actually dropped from a very stable 2 meg line with EFH to around 1.7 atm with ADSL. Any advice for a new recruit to a max line is grateful.

Rob

It will usually start another 10 day training period so the speed will vary in these first 10 days, but of you can post your router stats I'll glady help suggest if we can make an improvement :)

Old modem, may be time to update me thinks. Not even Samsung have the drivers online now:rolleyes:
Just got a 360 so not much chance of getting luck out of asking the mrs cap in hand....

Upstream Output Power = -38 dBm
Upstream Noise Margin = +27.0 dB
Upstream Attenuation = 15.5 dB

There is a shed load more on this, do i need to locate more?

http://www.speedtester.bt.com/ is returning :

That BT error is because you've only just been migrated. It will just start working on it's own :)

Speeds will be around 2Meg initially as thats what BT set your profile to from the start.

Hello good evening and welcome.

Thanks for the kind hello's..

I am on my third day of connection now and very stable. I have managed to run the BT speedtester and received the following:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 2000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1831 kbps

This happened to a mate of mine who went with another enta net reseller recently. BT forgot to set the BRAS profile for him.

Is this looking the same for me?

You're pegged to a 2 Mbit profile, which isn't unusual. If it hasn't changed when the 10 days are up you'll need to open a ticket to get it sorted. Also you have interleaving on.

Howdoo Ircsum,

New to max etc, tried to read up on interleaving and most people confused on this. Basically you lose a notch of speed as a trade off for maintaining quality? Is this ISP controlled or Moden/router?

Ircsum
10/05/2007, 16:32
Yes, you trade 512kbits of synch speed (generally), and some latency (generally 9 ms) in return for stability. It's controlled by BT so, if you want it changed, you need to request this off the ISP who will forward the request to BT.

I have logged this as a stuck profile with BT.

Gets funnier this...

The IP address discovered on the network associated with your telephone number:01*********, did not match the one we have logged from this browser/connection. Please check your telephone number and try again. If problem persists please contact your CP.

Hmmm must have been a glitch.

Still no profile change after a week :(

James
14/05/2007, 17:59
No really a glitch!

BT's sytem never ceases to amaze. Some stuck profiles we report are fixed in a day, others just keep bouncing around their internal fault system and no-one ever get's to do anything. We keep firing it back as a stuck BRAS profile to them and it does get sorted :)

James,

Any movement on the stuck profile?

Cheers
