View Full Version : Bt Speed Test During Training
Hi all,
I just moved house and am back on ADSL24 on a newly installed telephone line. My internet connection only came 'live' yesterday lunchtime, so I know I'm on the training period for the next ten days but...are these results what I should expect, bearing in mind I'm on (or should be) the 'Home 30' service (8 Mbps) from ADSL24? James...??

For your sync speed your profile and download rate are correct. I'm guessing that you're quite a long way from your exchange though as you're only syncing at 1952kbps. You might not have had a chance to do this as you've only just moved in but have you had a look at the internal phone wiring as per http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php
2.36 KM (as the crow flies), which doesn't seem excessive...??
I'll check the wiring...
As the crow flies is nothing. I've just checked the line length - and it's apparently 8Km according to BT! It must go a very long way back to the exchange. 1.5Meg profile on that line length is amazing...
If your sync rate does not improve after checking the wiring, then there is not a lot that can be done as it's just a long line :(

How did you check the line length?
Using a tool I have access to (its not publicly available and may not be 100% accurate to be honest. But it's still a long line)
Ok...I'm going to fiddle with my sockets...!
...and I'll report back...
Ok. Note that you have to compare the route connection rate, as performing another speedtest won't really show an increase in download speed as the router has to be on the faster speed for 3 days before the profile updates. So take note of what your router status page shows you as being connected at (downstream)
