Well, at 12.37am last night i got disconnected, went to put in new login details into the router and thing connected straightaway. I just like to thank ADSL24 for the quick and effortless change over process. As for the new supplier, we will see how it goes in the future. first test will be sunday night :D

My switchover was on 26th Feb and was just as painfree. Having managed many major IT projects over the years it's always an achievement, so well done to ADSL24 staff . My only gripe with the change is that since the switchover my downloads max out at 7Mb/s rather than the 8Mb/s I got regularly from Enta, regardless of the time or type of download. Can't help wondering if this is happening for others?

Sounds like your new connection might have interleaving enabled?????

Can you post your line stats and the results from the BT Speed Tester (http://www.speedtester.bt.com/) please?

Yep got to say Im finding the same.

Speed on Enta was a consistent 5900+ kbps with occasional 6100 kbps. Now on murphx Im down to 5300+ kbps, 5400+ kbps and now 5615 kbps.

here is mine as follows:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2133 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7008 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6000 Kbps

half a mile away from the exchange, used to get 7.5mb

Can you post your line stats and the results from the BT Speed Tester (http://www.speedtester.bt.com/) please?

The btspeedtest confirms that my ip profile is 7150, Downstream 8128, Upstream 448.

According to thinkbroadband "The IP Profile is a system which BT Wholesale uses to ensure it can manage its ATM network, unbundled providers do not have this setting as they use IP based networks."

As I previously regularly got up to 8Mb/s from Enta I assume they are an unbundled provider, and that the switch to Murphx, who presumably use the BT system, means a reduced maximum throughput - it would have been nice to know in advance. Whilst it doesn't impact most of my activity it is galling to pay for an 8Mb line and only get a 7Mb one.

No, Entanet are not an unbundled provider.

I am glad you people ae having a good switch over I hope it'll be the same for me on the 10th.

The strange thing for me though is that since the end of the month, it's like someone has flicked the switch to the off position because I am only getting about 16kbps I was better off in the old dial up days.

I have tried all the tests I can think of the bottom out the problem, connecting directly to the master switch, disconnecting everything else apart from the router, changing all the micro filters to brand new one's, trying out a brand new router and I have even tried out a brand new usb modem all with the same result... no difference what so ever.

Everything seems ok when I run DMT tool, ping test also ok, no packet loss, I haven't managed to do a speed test yet as I can not do one too slow connection, it has taken me 5 minutes to load this page up to type this.

I have logged a ticket and so far no issues according to adsl 24, I wonder if anyone is having the same problems, ie awaiting to be switched over and experiencing slow snail speeds.

The weird thing is why did this happen at the end of the month??

If by magic it'll be back to normal on the 10th I know that Entanet has been taking the p***, it is so frustrating awaiting for pages to load etc...feels like I am back to the dark ages.

Well, we'll see what'll happen on the 10th.

No, Entanet are not an unbundled provider.

Fair enough. Someone else suggested that perhaps I was on Enta's ADSL2+ WBC (21CN) network, whatever that means!

It isn't a major issue as large downloads are a rarity for me, but it would be nice to understand why it has changed.

I have actually noticed a bit of a slow down on Murphx myself today, during their new off-peak usage period.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2560 Kbps
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

Reported it to my ISP but they are insisting that it is a congested VP issue - although nothing is showing for my exchange - and nothing to do with Murphx or the new off-peak period. They've asked that I log further BT speedtest's today so they can report it to BT for investigation, of course speedtester.bt.com has now decided not to stop responding to any further attempted tests

Have been getting near full line rate 24/7 with Murphx until today.

I don't really think that's good enough, as for the bt speedtester, is it safe to give them your internet login details?

If you just changed over this morning then I think you'll need to allow 24 hours for the various profiles to reset.

Also, yes it's safe to give the speedtester your login details - they already have them, they want you to supply them to confirm who you are. So you're not giving them anything they don't already have.

Looks back to normal for me now:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 6746 Kbps
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

A browse around some other ISP forum's - where MurphX is the supplier - suggests that it might be an LNS gateway related issue. I will be keeping an eye on it, but full speed ahead at the moment :)

I'm due to switch tomorrow. Like others I've never had any real problems with speed. Just hope it continues!:)
