So, BT have gone all sticky on me. 11 days now on a 2000k connection :(
I've created my ticket at the helpdesk and James has responded in his efficient & polite manner. Cheers man.
What I'm trying to ascertain is : what happens next? I've read that BT need to visit my house - so if usual BT efficiency guidelines are adhered to, they'll be here in November. But I also read that it is done at my exchange. I'm unsure how long this torturous situation will last.
Any ADSL24ers care to share their experiences?
[My connection was a healthy ~7M before I went to the Office45 from Home60.
Absolutely nothing else has changed.]
I'd also like to ask - if this is such a common fault, what are BT doing to remedy it?
BT don't really need to call at your house. The stuck profile should be sorted at the exchange with no engineer visit required.
On some occasions, if ater say 3 or 4 weeks BT still refuse to fix or understand the problem is a stuck profile, they insist an engineer is sent out to check the problem. Some clued up engineers who know their game are able to fix it for you, other's just test the line, and then leave with no problem found.
As regards to timescales, some profiles can get unstuck in a matter of a few days, some take weeks. This is all dependent on how BT pick up the fault and if the person that does has any idea of what a stuck profile is to start with!
It's a quite common fault. We get about 10 reports a week and we are not a large ISP. I can only imagine what volumes of stuck profile faults other ISPs report to BT.

YOU sir, are the lucky!
BT have just replied -
[13-05-2007 20:01] 15 - RAS Mapping Changed
This means if you reboot the router your profile has been uncapped. I've never seen BT so efficient.
James
AFAIK it doesn't even require a visit to the exchange to sort this out. On the TB Forums some BT bod has worked the oracle for a number of ppl with stuck profiles within a very short time....and this must have been done remotely.
Ircsum.
I've never seen BT so efficient.
James
Don't be daft James, BT search through forums liek this one waiting for such problems and are onto them in a flash!
Yes, I have just banged my head on a low lying metal bar and lost my mind:D
I've never seen BT so efficient.
James

Bloody hell, most unexpected & welcome. I am teh lucky.:D
Hey naboo, I'm on your ISP, infectin your tubez. If they'd heard my reputation they would never have DSL enabled me.:p
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 832 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7680 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6066 kbps
Ample for my needs.
