If I move to another property,do I have to pay an activation fee for internet to BT,and if so,how much is it?

My understanding is if the home your moving to is already broadband enabled then it's free to move.

I moved home last year and had an issue whereby the line was tagged to the ISP of the previous owner. They hadn't stopped the broadband when they moved. This was a nightmare to sort out, with everyone passing the book (BT/previous owner, previous owners isp etc) and took 2 weeks. I would check with the owner of the new house to determine whether the BT line is broadband enabled and to ensure that when they move they ensure the tag is removed.

If the line is not broadband enabled then you are likely to have to pay the standard activation fee. I guess ADSL24 will be able to tell you how much or whether it is actually payable by yourself as I can't recall the actual amount.

Moving to a new property will incur an activation fee, currently £40+ vat(£47.00),this is not the same as a migration between providers via MAC.
As carpangler1 discovered if the previous occupants had bb and left the tag on the line this can cause a lot of problems, however your ISP should be able to sort this.

Unless of course your new house can get C&W LLU currently Free activation 'til end of June

Quite correct,I'd forgotten about that currently "End User Cease Charge: £24.74 (exc VAT)
Operative Date: 01-04-2010"

Its not LLU at either address.
So I will have to pay a cease charge of £22 (approx) just to cease BB on this line for the day I move,AND an activation charge of £40+ to have BB put on the line at the new address?
And the next person who moves into my current house will have to pay the same amount to have BB enabled again!
Nice going BT...

When I moved home there was no termination fee or reconnection fee. This was May last year. As mentioned the only issue I had was the tag on the line which took a few weeks to sort out. Unless things have changed I beleive that so long as you don't cancel and you are just moving and the home you are moving to is BB enabled there were no fees. However, as mentioned everyone is trying to make money now, so there probably is now, unless you can negotiate.

Have you spoke to ADSL24 for clarifiction as it does get confusing now, even when you read up on it.
