View Full Version : Frequent ISP disconnects over the last few days

I've been with ADSL24 for over three years and until now have had no serious problems since the switch to Murphx.

My router has been connected 24/7 for the last four weeks without resyncing but over the last few days there have been frequent ISP/Internet disconnects. These last for a few minutes and obviously don't affect my line profile but they are very annoying.

I raised a ticket but all I got in reply was a list of things to check which would be appropriate to DSL problems between my router and the exchange. Does anyone else have this problem?

yeh i noticed it too. disconnected quite a few times yesterday afternoon and a couple times today so far. they obviously know its something their end why dont they say what it is and that theyre working on it instead of making us waste our time going through pointless checks and tests.

Thing is, the others have a fair use police which means 40GB max a month. Can't really move isp.

I'm sure its a widespread problem with murphx. ADSL24 are aware of the problem, i would give them a ring and they will probably explain whats going on and what you or they can do to help.

Phoned tech support and was told that the checks were for my own good in case BT come out to check the line and find nothing wrong, as I don't think they will because it's not a line fault. They wouldn't go any further until I had done the tests so I connected a new router to the test socket, did a BT speedtest and sent them details of that with a screenshot of the router's technical data.

I hope it's sortable as Murphx was a big improvement on Enta for me and has been great for most of the first three months.

to be fair its been solid as a rock for at least a month until today and yesterday. they do normally sort whatever it is out but seems to happen a lot to murphx. since this mornings disconnects it seems fine again so hopefully thats it for this months batch of disconnects lol.

Contact ADSL24 guys, i think i remember james saying murphx can change something on your line to reduce the disconnects. Just let them know.

Got to endorse much of what is said here. No such problems when I was with ADSL24 Enta. Since migration, its been pants.

My speed has deteriorated so much its gone from nearly 6meg down to less than 1.2meg. But its recovered a little, now at 2.2meg. Whoopee- do!

I suspect the speed reduction is what you'll get to reduce the frequent disconnects.

There's been some denial about the disconnects which leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

Im looking to migrate away now. Had enough of this nonsense. I know how the masses of people who migrated from ADSL24 enta must have felt.

what router you using? i had the same experience, hardly ever disconnected on enta (but throttled to hell) and then on murphx many daily disconnections. switched from my speedtouch to a netgear and instantly improved. i was even connected at 16300kbps at one point during the week!! lol.

Still many random disconnections here using a Belkin router.

They are getting to be a pain now and the service is becoming untrustworthy - all the equipment is the same as when we were on Enta so whats changed?

I've had just about enough profile went from 4000 to 3500 to 2000 and today I woke upto 1000! Who knows what tomorrow will bring, dial up perhaps. My crappy orange dongle is now performing better.

It seems to have settled for me as the last couple of days have been normal but my problem was never with the DSL connection so my profile was unaffected. Even during the week or so of frequent disconnections I had no speed issues apart from those annoying periods of around five minutes each when there was nothing.
